Thank you so much for this video! I brought in two peppers and pruned them down and now they're growing all these beautiful shiny leaves and I didn't know if that was okay I thought I was just going to be overwintering them and sticking them back in the ground in the spring. Now I will give them some more love and attention and see if I actually get peppers this winter! This past summer was my first garden in over 20 years. And this year was my introduction to prepping. I've enjoyed your videos very very much.

Thank you for the effort involved in making this comparison video, very useful. You have a fantastic setup although you seem to have a major issue with those annoying soil gnats, a problem we all have to deal with. Whenever I bring plants indoors I always make a fresh batch of potting soil and always sterilize it before replanting. I still use the sticky traps and still get those bugs but sterilization will kill off eggs and larvae in the soil resulting in far less infestation.

Looking very good there! I brought my peppers in to overwinter for the first time this year. Its warm enough where I have them so that they're not dying, but not not warm enough for them to fruit. That said, I should get a nice crop from them at the start of summer, rather than the end as would usually be the case. A good feeling to be able to keep a nice plant going as well instead of just pulling & chucking on the compost heap (as I was always taught to do). Hope you have a good Christmas guys, best wishes from the UK!

I use this ledge from Walmart to let cats perch on the window. Had 15 pound Velcro or screws to attach to the window sill and legs from the far end diagonal to the wall. I just screwed that to the wall too because it didn't stay perfectly level with weight.

if you give them phosphorus and cal/mag the peppers will get much bigger and you'll get much more yield very easily. They also love the addition of sand to their potting mix and love to have very warm and somewhat dry soil, drip irrigated is best using clean rain water. Collecting rain water from thunderstorms really helps plants go insane, growing in a frenzy like they do outdoors if done in the correct condition and recommended climate which you could look up by the type of pepper. Hot chilis love the sand .. Well draining which stops them from getting root malnutrition by not allowing the roots to get large white and well oxygenated, easily weakening your pepper plants. They do not like compact hard high clay concentrated soil that harden and constrict the roots.

Here's my trick to cloning peppers or anything inside... I sterilize the scissors with alcohol before I use it of course. I then take my cutting and pull of all leaves except the top 2 and then cut those 2 leaves in half horizontally discarding the tips.. I then put the stem under water when I make the final 45 degree cut at the ends, and veryy fast put that end into the cloning powder/gel. It then goes right into the grow medium that is moist but not soggy. Coco coir medium works the best for this. Depending on where you are or if you have a cuttings dome or not, you might want to put zip lock bag on top secured by a rubber band to act as a mini greenhouse. I'm in Florida so usually that's enough but if it's dead winter I'll put the peppers on a heating pad on low to promote root growth. Has never failed. Also excellent channel, I just binged watched and of course subbed 👍 keep up the great content !

So awesome thanks for making this video! I have several hot peppers growing in large tote containers outside. They have alot of baby peppers still producing as well as some that are ripening nicely. We'll be getting frost up here soon and I want to bring them inside in the same containers so they can keep producing and ripening. Can I just bring them in and throw grow lights on them? I'm not sure that I should do any pruning yet...
@TheProvidentPrepper Жыл бұрын
If you aren't repotting them there isn't a need to prune. You may have a bit of a bug issue so give them a good spray with water that has a little dish soap and hydrogen peroxide in it. Water the soil with water that has hydrogen peroxide in it to kill the bugs living in the soil. They will do great with grow lights or in a sunny window.

I would be very interested in a follow-up to the pest issue. I’ve got a grow light used for germinating for spring planting. Ever since your first video, I’ve been considering an indoor garden, but wondered if hydroponic wasn’t best due to the smell of the dirt and pests. I prefer the taste of veg grown in dirt. I think a solarium like yours or green house might be needed. Even if starting with fresh dirt and seed, I often find spider eggs in bagged dirt. Your channel is really wonderful at giving good info and different alternatives. The shelf idea is great. I would have thought the cold transfer from the window would inhibit growth, but the extra space must solve that.

Great video! I have a second year jalapeño pepper that I started from seed and then brought it into my house over the winter. It was placed in a bad window for sun, but it still did it’s best. I just took it outside and it is already producing small peppers. It doesn’t look the greatest because it is in shock because of all the sun it now receives. My question is, how do I get the plant from producing fruit early, and get it to focus back into growing larger and stronger?

I watched this video twice, and not once did I hear the words "Lumens" and "Kelvin". THESE are the most important elements for indoor growing. Not all "grow lights" are worth a damn. If you're not cranking out AT LEAST 5000 L and 5000 K, you're wasting your time and money.
@Adol6663 жыл бұрын
"In order for the peppers to survive You have to prune peppers ALOT" LOL where are you getting that myth from? Ive brought peppers in and over wintered many times, not pruned and they survived just fine. Nothing wrong with pruning em back but it isnt something you have to do for them to live.
@themuckler8176 Жыл бұрын
You suck at indoor growing. And I've never hacked a pepper plant up like that to overwinter. I've kept plants for several years and have never done that or even heard of anyone doing that for peppers.
