Do you keep the spores at full shade or they receive sunlight?
@TheRootCulturist5 жыл бұрын
Hi, bright / filtered light or shaded but not direct sun light

Hi, after all these process, does it still need water? If it does how often do you open the lid and give it water? Thank you

Hi, this should help. What's next after Sowing the Platycerium Spore - Ep 08 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXvck3SZqM6nd5o You don’t need to open until they reach the gametophyte stage.

Your peat moss looks very fine in size. How do you prepare ? Put in a blender ?
@TheRootCulturist3 жыл бұрын
That’s how we’ve gotten them as. You could try sieving.

Where can I get spores from? I live in Australia. Thanks for a great video 🙏🏼

Thank you. Glad you found it useful. Hmm, you could try nurseries or local Australian hobbyist.

Hi, how long does it take for the plantlets to grow to the size where they need to be replanted? I have followed your instructions and my plantlets haven't really progressed in almost a year....
@TheRootCulturist2 жыл бұрын
Hi, there isn’t a fixed time for the gametophyte to change to sporophyte. If it’s too dense, you can start transferring to a new media and increasing the humidity.

Is there a correlation between the development of the spores and the species of staghorn? And if there is, where can I find the "average" time per species?
@TheRootCulturist Жыл бұрын
Likely so, for example those that goes dormant like wallachii in the wild they release spores during the rainy season. So those should germinate fairly quickly. Don’t think there is any but if you do come across do let us know. Would be interesting to see.

Hello sir.. I gt a 2 question.. How many days the spores will take to devlop and in how many month it will be ready for transplant ??
@TheRootCulturist3 жыл бұрын
Hi, for us the fastest we’ve gotten the spores to germinate is 2-3 weeks. As to how long to transplant depends on how dense you have sowed them and how quick the first true leaf form. Good luck!

How much boiling water do I put? Is it okay to let all the boiling water inside the container?
@TheRootCulturist3 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s ok. You can pour off the excess after it has cooled. The retain water should only fill the perlite section.

Hi! Thank you for the video. Was wondering would it be possible to use coco peat instead of peat moss for the staghorn to grow?
@TheRootCulturist3 жыл бұрын
Hi, you’re welcome. Personally, we’ve not had much success with cocopeat as spore sowing media. We have however, known growers who had success with it.

@@TheRootCulturist I see, will use peat moss. Thank you!:-)

Hi! I have another question, is it necessary to place the fertilizer in in order for the spores to grow?
@TheRootCulturist3 жыл бұрын
Hi, it’s optional. Overdose of fert is actually detrimental to germination

@@TheRootCulturist how much do I use?
@TheRootCulturist2 жыл бұрын
Depending on container / pot size, you don’t need a lot. 1/3 a tea spoon of slow release for 10cmx10cm container

Hi, is this method also applicable for the Cobra fern?
@TheRootCulturist3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes it is. We’ve used it for the normal form birdnest fern.

Como almacena las esporas después de cosechadas ? Y cual es su vida útil?
@TheRootCulturist4 жыл бұрын
Hola, dry the spores and store in paper envelope in a cool dry place. Can be years if stored properly.
