Back when I worked full time, I used to have a cleaning lady come in Wednesday morning and clean while I was at work. I used to love coming home Wednesday evening to a clean house that I didn't have to do. That was my extravagance for working 2 jobs while being a wife and mother. Rosario did an awesome job. (We always joked about the maid on Will & Grace having the same name, which was on TV at the same time frame.)

Calico kittys are my favorite. Someone dumped a calico kitty and her kittens off here but i cant catch them. I do put food out and they get water out of the chicken waterer because my chickens are loose on 10 acres. I hope i csn catch them to spay momma and babys. 😊

Definitely a weird year for breeding! Last year all my does cycled in August. This year they wanted until October. Even the cows are cycling weird. I asked our cow AI tech and he said it's been tricky for sure!

Beat way to deal with rats would be to hire a ratting dog or dogs, maybe someome who does ferreting as well

with the rat problem - have you looked into Gallagher Goodnature Rat and Mouse trap - as you know I can't send you the link - put it in to the search engine and have a look - even vlogs about how they work - it is a NZ company but they are sold across the USA and around the world - you never find rats and mice together as the rats kill the mice and eat them

The mice in my state of Washington are about 1/4 the size of the critter in your cage. Mice are so so tiny. So I am guessing that is possibly a young rat OR Arizona has gynormous mice which is also possible.

One thing you can do is use Junos used cat litter around your feed storage. The rats will smell a predator and stop going into the bins and storage.
