Got mine as a little 3" seedling last month and now it is like 14 inches tall. I'm scared at how fast this thing is growing. I also noticed a sticky aromatic resin on the branches and trunk (mind doesn't have proper bark yet). Didn't expect that.

I remember we had a couple of these trees in a park/field near our house back in the 80s. All the kids from my neighbourhood loved them. These two trees provided shade, something to climb and food at hand.

When I were small, I never know the fruits can be eaten until my mom n dad told me that they have been eating it when they were small. At first I do no dare to eat it but then after eating one fruit I begin to like it.

Thanks for the video, very informative! Can I keep this potted for its life? I'm wanting to keep it on a patio here in central Florida. I hear they attract the Caribbean fruit fly here and I'd like to keep it smaller so an abundance of fruit doesn't attract the flies and it can stay on the pool patio.

Hello Logee's I just purchased 2 of these trees from your establishment. Before they arrive, I live in 9a Camden County Georgia (South East) we do get cold weather down to I believe 26 degrees and occasional frost. Should I plant one tree in the yard and leave the other in my greenhouse? what is your recommendation??
@LogeesPlants
@LogeesPlants 7 жыл бұрын
26 degrees is cold and would kill the plants back into the ground. They may resprout. Might be a good idea to keep one in a pot.

Cutting are taken from recent growth that is mature and struck in sand under intermittent mist. You need to keep the humidity high while they are callusing. We do use a rooting hormone.

Hello Logees what do you feed your tree? Thanks!
@LogeesPlants
@LogeesPlants 7 жыл бұрын
They are not fussy. Any balanced fertilizer will do. A good option is a granular organic which you top dress on the potting mix in the pot. This will give you a longer residual feed so you only have to do it once a month.

What about root issues in the ground ? I have a drip system in low desert of Metro Phoenix, Arizona...and about 500 plants, so would not want to anything invasive root-wise. I had heard both detrimental but also maybe no problem in some climates like ours...

Can anyone help me, my jamicain cherry plant is 1.5-2 year old and of about 6-7 feet tall, Even though it has produce alot of buds but most don't bloom, and if they does , after flowering it just dry up, without giving a single fruit 😔
@LogeesPlants
@LogeesPlants 3 жыл бұрын
Temperatures and full sun are key to producing fruit. Also, you must dry out between waterings. If you have brought it outside from inside, it needs an adjustment period so the buds don't fall off. Whenever going from inside to out or outside to in, there is an adjustment phase. You might want to check the root system to see that it is still healthy and viable. They don't like the cold damp soil of winter. But if bringing the plant outside, give it a few hours of full sun and then shade and increase this over time. Also, in active growing season (summer), give it a balanced fertilizer once a week.
