I'm really impressed with how self aware and reflective you are. You've very quickly become one of my favorite voices in the online space and definitely the KZbinr I watch most consistently. These podcast episodes are amazing and, while I wish they had been there when I was growing up, I'm really happy they're going to be here now for the kids of today. You're a strong, brave person for sharing your experiences like this and will undoubtedly end up saving lives. Thank you.

A boy pushed my daughter at school and my dad tried to tell her that that means he likes her and I shut that down so fast. I told my dad that he better rethink his words before he teaches my daughter that abuse his love.

this is the most relatable video i’ve ever seen. growing up with my mom as my teacher and also in a catholic family was definitely not beneficial for me being able to figure anything out about myself. not even just that i’m queer, but just me as a person. i’m not joking when i say my jaw dropped multiple time while watching because i realized how much i relate to this. thank you for sharing your story mattie

I always knew that I’m nonbinary, I realized that I’m trans in fourth grade. I didn’t know how to communicate it then and I never told anyone how I was feeling. Now that I’m a little older, I’m trying to figure out what my future looks like, if I even have one at all.

The thing about middle school being really akward is very true, but interestingly for me because of covid, my middle school years from a point onward felt non existent, which ironically counteracted the whole awkward thing haha

I LOVE THIS A LOT THANK YOU MATTIE💙 Also 9:25 that made me laugh 😂ur funny lol Edit: I heavily relate omg. My I’m wasn’t a teacher but she and my dad have monitored my entire life 💀IT SUCKED! And I had to learn who I was as a person wayyyyy later than most. Thankfully it’s ok now but dang it’s crazy how damaging and stifling it is when parents don’t let you grow on your own 😅

Hi Mattie, I'm new to your channel. It was the short of this podcast that brought me to you. I was raised in a religious family, and had a Catholic single mom. So I hid my thoughts & feelings until I went to college (in my 30s). I didn't know how to deal with my feelings let alone telling that person that I was attracted to her. However, she slowly & gently coaxed it out of me until I told her. She was my 1st GF, and we were together for 7 years. As I'm sure you've guessed I'm older then you (soon to be 46) so I'm learning how to feel safe out of my closet with my family, and not run back into it. I am so glad that you are able to be freely be yourself now at your age when I wish I could've been. New subscriber & looking forward to next the podcast video. Thanks.

My mom was the one there to be a safe space for exploration in many ways. She's open about personal expression. Tats, piercings, gay, trans, any race. It didn't matter as long as you were a decent person. If anyone needed a place to sleep the night, we had futons for that. It was to the point that when we moved there was a lot of help and people sending messages.

I recently came out to my friend as lesbian. This is what she said, “no your not” “you need to figure your sh!t out” I KNOW a lot of people have came out to people and people don’t believe them. It’s my life not yours. It hurts. But if your friend doesn’t believe you when you finally found the confidence to come out, they are NOT your friend. Like I came out to YOU so you must be a really good friend but if that is how you react. NO. ❤🏳️🌈

The thing with being the only openly queer kid hit HARD. I'm in HS rn and one of the boys in my class came out as bi. Seeing everyone elses reaction was awful. Especially for me and one of the other girls in my friend group. Just knowing that fear of saying those words and knowing that all those things they said could have been said to us. Shes bi and im gay and use she/they pronouns around the friends who know. We obvi checked up on him after class but just weren't ready to tell other people. I feel really bad abt not telling him but im just not ready for people to know.

It took me 3 kids and a separation to realize i'm abro/aceflex. Discovering your sexuality is a journey where you drank the Big Gulp and have to pee. Finding the right people to stop for you is vital. May you all find your pit stop.😂

I have had a crush on this one girl for at least 2 year if not longer, I was speculating before I realized I was in love with this girl but I only figured it out this year. I think she knew even before i knew. One day we were shopping with my other friend and we needed to try something on, there was only one open and before we went in she asked me with a kinda grossed out expression if I liked girls. She said it in a funny voice but I knew she was serious. At this point I knew i did but I said no anyway so she wouldn't be uncomfortable. I know this sounds wrong but i didn't know I had feelings for her until a year after.

So we're all made apparently in th image of God. My conclusion is God is a little bit Gay! My beautiful friend struggled for his whole life being devout Roman Catholic and a Gay man. We end up in the same place once we die... i had a close up preview from nearly dieing!
