Are you a writer, too? You should absolutely write stories about your life. Fascinating. I think you could write a great kids’ book about being in the circus! Almost Every kid dreams of it.

Writing a kid’s book is one of my absolute dreams! I’m currently working on a book about dwarfism history, and although it’s adult non-fiction, I hope to be able to write something for young readers one day 🤍

@ I especially love all the info about choosing what you want to do in the circus - learning stilt-walking, magic tricks, how to walk on the globe, juggling, fire-eating - esoteric! Building props, making costumes, deciding on a persona is fascinating, too. Having a behind the scenes look into the circus world is not something I’ve ever seen in kid lit. I want to learn more, too! Keep writing and posting!

I have some questions for either the comments or a part 2: 1. Were you paid or did you have money set aside for you for when you were older? You talked about it being a job like child acting, which obviously it is, and I thought about current discourse about child influencers not being paid like child actors are. 2. Did your parents talk to you about the stereotypes and prejudices you would experience as a little person in the circus either before you started or during your career? Did you get support and understanding from them? 3. What’s your proudest achievement and/or skill from your time in the circus?

The algorithm randomly pushed this on way fyp so I just want to say thank you for being vulnerable and open enough to share your experiences with the world. I think people forget that even in creative spaces accessibility is often lacking and forgotten in very profound ways. I hope more opportunities for fulfilling work come your way ☺️

I have hEDS and I’ve heard some interesting convos abt the intersection of connective tissue disorders, contortion, and dance like ballet. There are some influencers w/ hEDS who have backgrounds in contortion and dance as professions because hypermobility makes us naturally more flexible. Obviously not everyone in those professions has hEDS but it’s interesting, especially bc the ppl in those areas w/hEDS have talked about how their training emphasized building the muscles needed to stabilize flexible joints and how to safely engage in flexibility (and therefore flexibility) without injuring yourself. One of the primary issues with hEDS is dislocations due to muscle imbalances paired with weak connective tissue. The main recommendation is to avoid all hyperextension because modern PT is built for normal levels of extension and there isn’t research on if hyperextension can ever be safe or how to learn the limits of your body. I was in ballet and gymnastics as a kid and when I left ballet, my teacher told my mom that I should stay bc of my natural abilities. Today I know she was talking about my hypermobility meaning I was more flexible with less training. I hope more people start talking about this intersection because it’s another example of how research lags behind and disrespects the lived experience of people who actively live with disabilities. Also, bc not all ppl in these fields have connective tissue disorders, that creates even more opportunities to look at how hypermobile ppl and non-hypermobile ppl are similar and different in terms of what training and muscle building exercises are most helpful. It would also be interesting to see if ppl trained in these fields with hEDS have different levels of common comorbidities not directly related to muscle building like POTS, MCAS, autoimmune conditions, gastric emptying disorders, heart issues, and more. Ps: I love your videos on tiktok and have learned so much about dwarfism and disability advocacy from you. I’m really happy you have KZbin to be able to make more long form and evergreen content because it makes your past content more readily accessible to new viewers than tiktok does 🥰.

ngl I subscribed after the first 15 seconds just because your delivery of "no, my mom's a clown and my dad eats fire and does stilt walking" was so funny to me, I can tell you have a comedy background lol. but being real, now that I've finished the video I have to say, you are such an inspiration to me as a young disabled aspiring filmmaker who also hopes to make a film depicting my own often misunderstood and poorly represented disability (epilepsy). I'm so glad you reached your fundraising goal, that gives me hope for my own artistic ambitions, and I can't wait to watch your film when it comes out💗

Your channel/video was suggested by the algorithm and I'm so glad I watched! I really enjoy your style as a storyteller, the background music selection is *top tier*, and I found your experience in the circus to be both fascinating and poignant. The stories about the halloween party and CEO "surprise" were especially infuriating. I'm sorry you had to go through those experiences but I'm happy you were able to choose yourself, walk away from sh***y people who disrespected you/tried to gaslight you about your worth, and have used your knowledge + skills to advance your craft. I am rooting for you and your success in the future 🙏🏾 As an aside, I also had a core memory reawakened when you mentioned performing outside of mega churches. I attended a "wannabe mega church" as a child (🙄) and there was a member of the church who facilitated many church events as a clown. She would even show up to church sometimes dressed as a clown but mainly was there to spread a "clowns for jesus" message at local church events. It was...interesting to say the least 😅

i think the question i still have after the video is really random, but i was curious how setting up for acts in different venues was and if it posed a problem. if tightwire and other suspended acts wouldve been impossible in some circumstances, would your family just switch to other talents they had for a specific venue? also got this video on my homepage, glad to know you and hear about your time in the circus!! im doing ok today im hanging out with my cat :]!!

If I worked at a company and one of my coworkers says to me that they're planning a surprise for the owner who "has a thing for little people," I would have to sit down with them, like, cross-legged on the floor, while they explained to me just what the fuck they're even talking about. Like, "what do you mean. Where did you get this information. How did this discussion come up." I totally get why you centered yourself in this story and the experience of being used as a prop, because that's how you figured into it and the effect it had on you, but the implications of both the office surprise and that sinister no phones sex party are horrifying. This is the first video of yours that I've seen and already you have two separate stories where you're at the periphery of something so alien and so dark that my brain just doesn't know what to do with them. It's like all you gotta be is short and people start lining up to put you in these True Detective situations.
