Remember to give a HUGE thank you to Maddi for inviting us into her space. We are guests in HER home!! Few people are brave enough to share their private spaces with strangers, let alone with the wide internet. And if it weren’t for generous people like Maddi, then this whole series would not even be possible. Thank you Maddi for being such a joy to spend the day with, for cracking me up, and for great deep talks as well. They don’t make em like you often, and I am very grateful that you shared your home and life with us❤

Maybe a light or a plant on the top shelf of the mudroom unit. What are those white circles in some pictures of Hazel? Pearls? Pom-poms? Whichever, she’s lovely.

I'm trying to learn from you: - sort out unnecessary things first - clear the room as empty as possible to be unbiased - define zones - physically move large objects around the room until it fits - Use a rug to define zones Decorate: - use different heights - Combine large and small pictures - Arrange things in groups of three or odd numbers - Group things together with trays or similar. I hope I have understood this correctly. I find it most difficult to define the zones. With you it always seems logical in retrospect, but beforehand I have no idea.
@inkandcaffeine4 күн бұрын
rugs are an easy definition tool but another thing ive found is color palette! our open concept is a bit annoying (& we have a fluffy dog so rugs are hard to keep clean) BUT i found doing black furniture in the 'living' & light brown furniture & decor in the 'piano/hobby' area makes them feel separate!

Zones were always difficult for me too. I started to define activities which are people oriented rather than zones which are spacial for me. And it is better understood by clients as well. Then I write down what is needed for the activity (ie office-storage, joga-jogamatspace and space to move arms around 😅) and then it is tetris ;) It helped me lot of times.

I praise the day I’ve found your video! It’s mindblowing how the person thousands miles away from you can inspire and teach you and share tons of wise stuff! I just finished my flat renovation? repair? not sure how it would be in english, i just did painting, ceilings, floor etc, only things left - furniture and styling. And i was pretty much nervous about it, because i 1) simply wasn’t sure what i want 2) was very afraid of mistakes. And all of the sudden I found your channel, your videos about room makeover, styling, critique, your lifevideos - and they CALMED ME DOWN! Now I’m thousands times more excited about future work with my flat, than it was even a half year ago, and your role in this process is really huge. Thank you so much! Best greetings and tons pf love from Minsk, Belarus. Love you so much, just keep doing and inspire!

I have helped a few people with their spaces exactly like this, but I go a bit farther… I make them empty out every drawer and every space, like the line of white drawers there with the desk, I would have had her empty all of it out. Don’t let anything live in that desk that wouldn’t be used there. I helped a friend clean out her crafting room, and made her empty every tote and every drawer. When she would buck it a little bit, I would say, but you don’t know what’s in that tote, or what’s in that drawer. She said I know everything that’s in that tote. It’s thus and so. But I made her empty it out anyway. As she dumped it, she said… “ Oh there’s my Apple stylus I lost!” I love doing a dump out, clean up, rearrange job. I love watching your videos, Caroline. You’re like watching a granddaughter, since I am 70 years old. You’re just a cutie.
