I think this was a fantastic video. Although I cannot relate to your experiences I understand what it's like to want to spread awareness for something you think is important. What you both are doing is amazing and is going to help a lot of people. I love how open you both are about your experiences and I hope by you being so open it will inspire others to do the same! :)

haha. A great way to start the video! Heehee. Love it. I grew up with low vision too so I totally understand!!! i was always the only blind kit around in my town... it was very hard, but because my family also had a lot of low vision and blindness, here was a lot of understanding.Yeah, it was hard when people started driving, but at least I had friends that did... Great video! I just found your channel. I just subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your videos! I make youtube videos too! 😀❤️

Thank you for subscribing! Been away for the past couple months but still want to make content. I just don't have a lot of time for recording or editing the next couple months as I'm working almost 60 hours a week.

James talked about anger, suicide and depression, as well as the positive side. I think most of us with a condition r handicap know, deep inside, what it's like to deal with the good stuff but also with the times when it is really rough and we are sad, angry, lonely, and don't feel accepted or don't feel understood, or like there's someone we can talk to who gets it. You donut want to burden family, especially if they are the issue for that one thing. You do need ears to talk to. You do need the chance for love relationships. (That rarely is talked about, especially same-sex anything.) I'd say most of the time , we are strong and happy, but there are times even the strongest, happiest person gets down, hurt, angry, and needs someone to get them through it. Very glad you guys talked about that too.

Growing up legally blind has big ups and downs. I got bullied daily in elementary and junior high, but things mostly got better in high school and college. But I also grew up gradually realizing I was gay, which was much tougher and added to (multiplied?) the bullying. My parents were mostly great advocates and loving support for me, but I later came to realize they had an overprotective and controlling side too, which was good intentioned, but not good for me. I did, however, usually learn to be my own advocate, and early on, I learned to explain things to other kids and teachers, about my condition. It is cool to help someone who wants to learn, who has honest questions. That was way more common than the obnoxious questions. -- I wish disabled folks would talk more about the struggles of growing up with a handicap, and family and friend issues. (And dating / sex / love.) Both handicapped people and their family / friends / potential partners need to know about how to improve relationships and how we do things, to avoid problems.

Content creators: There's the option of making more than one KZbin channel or another website or area on a website. That lets you have a space for a subject area. People do need to know who we are, both as people with a condition, and as people with many interests and abilities, including ones that would surprise most people who don't think that, for example, a blind person can do visual or graphic arts or video. Most mainstream people have never been around anyone with a handicap of any kind, and they need to know we can do these things and how to interact with us, how to help and when to let us handle it ourselves. That content we create, those interests in our lives, are our main things, so people need to know those for sure, but they also need to know about our conditions, to break the stigma and educate them. So whether you include it all in one channel and mix it up, or whether you have separate channels, those are two approaches to consider.

Hello there I'm Sam, this was a great video I can relate to you guys as far as visual impairment I am legally blind myself I also have nystagmus had it since birth and yes it does have its challenges there are surgeries out there but they're not very effective so I never opted to have any type of surgery to try to fix it my eye doctors have never even suggested it. What makes it even more challenging for me is that I also have almost no peripheral vision you could say tunnel vision which was brought on by a glaucoma which I've also had since I was very young. I myself have had to deal with lots of bullying during my school years so yes growing up with visual impairment can be tough especially when going through school I never had an option for private schools. Oh and I forgot to mention just one more thing I'm also completely blind in my right eye due to an eye injury when I was about six years old. Anyway great video you guys take care
