In this video we are setting up an indoor garden to grow vegetables out of season or to extend your growing season. I will be doing a led grow light review on Spider Farmers SF 2000 and grow tent. Growing vegetables indoors will help you increase growing space and allow you to become a little more self sufficient and less dependent on grocery stores for out of season produce.

I started my indoor, apartment garden first week of April. I love my veggies front to back - morning to afternoon sun. All started from seeds. All my squash, zucchini, tomatoes, okra, jalapenos, lettuce, garlic, ginger, red onions, green spring onions, sweet potatoes, beets, sweet bell peppers, all all growing quickly and look beautiful. And I can eat the beet leaves and the beet bulb, which is cool. And Zucchini leaves are so beautiful & ornamental.....so my landlord doesn't know I am growing an outside garden, indoors....lol I will get a grow light, soon, as I want my veggies to be stable in one place for the duration. I will harvest seeds from my veggies, for next year. I appreciate all you teaching, guidance, and advice, as I am a novice and want to become self sufficient! So....THANK YOU for all you do in helping us grow real, un-tampered food! With all the hormones, steroids, antibiotics, nuclear/radiation & metals in the earth that damages soil.....I refuse to eat store bought. God bless you!

Also the herbicides that have glyphosate which is known to cause cancer. That's why I am seeking organic options from the store and growing my own. Also I figured I would let people know just in case if it's of any help. But I researched led lights for a while. The one he's using is good and the mars hydro. But it was out of my price range. So I found a really good light that is comparable to the mars hydro but for only $60 instead of $260. It's a generic tsl 2000 that is 3ft long from ebay for only $60. Anyways happy gardening.

Greetings from Louisiana !! I'm so glad you did this. I just purchased some grow lights from Amazon before I discovered your channel on KZbin. I have no idea what I'm doing and I am new to gardening so this is very helpful. I'm currently growing sweet corn squash zucchini green beans lettuce carrots garlic mint Oregon Parsley basil PotatoesTomatoes okra Watermelon Jalapenos bell peppers Bunching onions and cantaloupe on my 2nd floor apartment balcony ! And just in case anyone was wondering, Yes my neighbors think I'm crazy, and the squash bugs found me way up here ! I very recently found myself going through a divorce after 21 years of marriage, and I found that gardening is cheaper than therapy, and for me ,more effective. May God continue to bless your family and your garden.

Having homegrown tomatoes in winter is totally worth $300. I’m in. I grew a certain herb using the fluorescent-type grow lights and that worked exceptionally well. I did make my own grow tent using aluminum foil covered cardboard. A quick tip. I got better growth using air pots vs conventional bottom draining pots. Thanks for the cool video. This should be fun!

Birmingham, AL I have this exact light running for the first time and I and just bought my second sf2000. Just germinated my first batch of tomato seeds (Kelloggs Bkfast & Cherokee Purple, and VF Romas). I can already tell that my first shoots are not getting ‘leggy’ as my seedlings did last year under other Agrolite fixtures. Planning to continue my determinate Romas going indoors under the sf2000. Awesome lights. Love the dimmer capability. Not too much heat put off, just enough to keep the plants around 78 degrees. Bomb! Josh

I just went to the local farmer's market and have some peppers I wish to grow, but we are moving into fall so by the time they would sprout and grow to a normal plant it would be coming up on Winter, so I need some sort of artificial light. With lockdowns on the horizon, or the forced mandates, I have decided that now is the time to supplement my food by growing my own, but so many false claims on the LED lights that I don't know what to buy. One thing I do know is that if the LED light fixture does not include a cooling fan I will not touch it. LEDs get hot as you can tell by touching the heatsink base on any over 10w. Try and touch the base of a household LED 110v lightbulb after 20 mins on. Now, be sure to rub some aloe on the new burn you just received.

I've grown tomatoes indoors last year and got 2kg of tomatoes from 3 plants! It was the first time growing tomatoes in general and especially indoor. So it's absolutely doable! One thing I didn't agree in the video is about not having a fan, which he said would be useful for smelly stuff to grow into the tent. The fan is absolutely necessary to create air circulation and maintaining correct level of humidity as well, or you're gonna end with condensation, mold, fungus, or plants not able to absorb nutrients due to wrong VPD (temperature and humidity are strictly linked to each in terms of how plant live and develop!)

I grow tomatoes (16+ plants so far) under 2 grow lights all year. I purchased (2) SF2000 lights and (2) Maxisun pb2000 lights. I use the SF2000s to grow tomatoes/hot peppers/green peppers/basil/thyme. The SF2000 lights are excellent performing led lights and absolutely grows tomatoes all year, seed to fruit in an area approx. 2 ft x 4 ft. Recently, the price has dropped significantly so you can pick up an SF2000 for approx. 269. The Maxisun is cheaper. Over the last month, the yield is about 12 - 25 tomatoes per week for these16 tomato plants.

Hello, I am here in Michigan in the suburbs, 15 minuets out of Detroit, I am 61 and will be starting a new garden with my sons help. At one time my yard was full of plants and vegetables but in 2005 I had 3 heart attacks and lost all interest in everything. Now with being home with everyone else during the Corona Virus and with lots of encouragement from my son I am planning out my garden. Oddly as I type this your episode about your Aneurysm update is on. WOW. we are both survivors. I am doing a grow like this, useing the cheapest alibaba lights i could find, running 2 rooms 1 for salad and herbs and 1 for growing tomatos, chilli, eggplants and strawberrys. Living in norway, our season is to short and this is tje way to go i beilve. I run 2 lights of 240w in both rooms, playing White the output to determine the henging height as they almost killed my plants when i ran them at 280w(light are dimable) lowered them to 150w and lowered the lights aswell as alot of plants where reaching for the lights. For the last weeks i lowered it to 100w as my chilli plant seems to get to much light and the leefs are curling, on the other hand it's branching out well and putting on lots of flowers and the first chillis are growing well. Thanks for your uploads, seen a few of them now and it has helped me. Will be fun to follow this and see how your lights do, i was lokking at the spider farmer but i liked the ones i got better for the buck. The lights i am happy whit having 4 uv and 4 ir 2 rows of red and 10 rows white light, dimable from 100w to 280w. Next up is cucumber, will be fun to see how they react.

I'm actually already using a spider farmer light in a 2×2 tent with a smaller light that only cost under a hundred dollars but still the quality of the light is basically unbelievable. I've always used T5 lights and when I switched to the spider farmer I was definitely amazed when I turned it on and how bright it was. I've been using it now for a couple of grows and still amazed with the quality and the outcome of my plants. I will be upgrading soon to a bigger tent and bigger light and will definitely be always using the spider farmer light.

Just want to make a helpful note. I tried an experiment a few years back and had beautiful tomato plants but no fruit. After a lot of research I had almost given up but found humidity can affect pollinization. If the humidity is too high the grains of pollen will not self pollinate. Now I used a HID which generates a lot of heat and that might make a difference.

I have 2x spider farmer 1000 inside a 2 chamber grow tent. One for germination at half power and 6in above the top of the seed tray. one for first transplant out of the little trays into 4inch pots at 18in. I've noticed that for the seedlings the light works well. I bring seedlings outside for a bit of full sun. I haven't had any leaf burn issues. The 4in pots with 2-6in plants stay out all day and come in at night. ( pest protection) all day sun and zero issues with wilt or color change.

I kind of skipped around the video a little cuz I didn’t have time, but are you using an exhaust fan? Constant fresh air flowing in and out is pretty important. Also those lighting hours they specified on the light are for growing maripickels mainly (short day plant). You can grow plenty of plants with lighting 18 hours on during fruit/flower. Maripickels is just one of the few plants that require 12 darkness to flower. Aside from that, more light hours = more energy for growth with some exceptions.

Raised beds, and auto watered just short of right amount, so I can hand water what's needed on hot days. Already experienced too wet 1st attempt. I tried several of the old traditional tomatoes, but they couldn't stand up to the pests, so I've settled on the two that do survive best here. Better Boy for the long run, and Celebrity for the short haul and cool season. I'm also trying the Mortgage Lifter for 1st time, am amazed at its growth. It exudes energy just looking at it, and it has several marble size mators among the blooms. I have high hopes for it. Would be interesting to add Watt meter on the input to that, even though LED's have excellent efficacy, that's a lot of light on for a lot of time. Seeing as you are in Cali, you'd have the sun to run in on a solar system easily, might be worth considering for a little extra. Sadly the solar set up isn't really possible where I am, and all the growing I do is inside, always been tempted to building something like this, so keen to see how it turns out.

I live in the California desert and was wondering about the extra electric costs. Solar power is most likely the best way to go.

I have a unique set up I am trying. I placed a vertical grow garden “grow up hydrogro” in my 2x2 Growlabs tent. I have 2 squash DWC started Kratky but just put some oxygen on them. Lastly using Sun Blaze T5 . Wanted leds but haven’t had any problems so far. Great video, I will be following along.

Going wait till the fall to set something like that up. Wouldn't mind trying to grow my peppers in there for winter time then moving them back outside in the spring. You should check out chillichump on you tube. He does the same thing but for his peppers. Lots of info on the same grow tents.

That looks like a really efficient, thoughtful, and durable indoor growing unit. It will be interesting to see how it works. Someone mentioned they wanted to know how to control ants. I read about peppermint herb years ago and tried it where I had a problem with ants. Using peppermint in my garden has always been successful. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe. Blessings

First season for me. Grew some awesome Better Boy tomatos, bell peppers & banana peppers. I seriously needed it such good therapy during what's going on. Its August now and I'm starting to get sad that the growing season is coming to an end in the NE. I thought about an indoor garden in my spare bedroom, but thought it might be to expensive and complicated plus dirty lol. Ty so much for this video! I'm definitely going to do this.

Yes this is definitely something I’m interested in doing. I can’t wait to see how it works out. I am a food preserver person so I would like to grow sand Marzano‘s for my own sauce. Right now I have them growing outside in my garden which is in the very point of the state of South Carolina. Thus far they are not doing the best. Because those San Marzano‘s are not hybrids in any way shape or form. I have a round 14 plants. So in the end we’ll see how many pounds of San Marzano’s I get off of each plant. I came here looking for somebody doing this because I would like to grow eight of them indoors pretty much continuously. Excited to see how this all works out since you are actually growing San Marino tomatoes.

This is a little too pricey for my budget BUUUUUT, for those of us with white fly, blight and other disease and fungal issues, this might also save you money on organic pesticides and anti-fungals. I’d love to have this product to be able to grow cool weather crops all year round. In south Florida where it gets up in the 100’s during the summer, not to mention Hurricanes, this would be a blessing. Also something else that comes to mind, if you lose power, you can hook it up to a portable generator or even solar power if you have that capability. Brian, as usual, great video sir!!

Trust me you can grow tomatoes indoors as long as you keep them warm and give them plenty of light. Its really not cost effective though considering the jump in your electricity bill. Its more of a fun hobby or a great way to start your plants a couple months early

@@SibzelChebst For Example lets say you are using a 1kw(1000watts) grow light for 16hrs per day for 30 days thats 480kwh per month. Power in my area is .10cents per kwh. That adds up to an extra $48 a month. Once you move out of your moms basement and have to pay your own bills you'll get it.

@@Adol666 I'm a 50 year old man with 8 of my own children. I think I understand the cost of food. thats a 200w light. so 10 cents every 5 hours. 30 cents a day. $9 a month. Depending on yield that may be close to supermarket prices. It really just depends on your use case... Hobby? Its certainly a better hobby than playing video games and recording it for youtube, to get 30 views per video.
