The guy is just trying to help people do this. Why do people always have to complain and criticize. If you don't like it then don't watch it and grow up. He was awesome and shared some really good info.

Brittany Watt You could apply that to any business. I so not think he is saying everyone will succeed. Much has to do with motivation and ability not to mention wise investment. No one should go into any business thinking it is a good thing. So why are you even watching? You have all the answers. And, by the way, many are doing quite well.

Hi John! Just to let you know that I was in Las Vegas last weekend and went by Urban Hydro Greens. Dennis is a great guy and so knowledgeable! He was very busy but was kind enough to give us the "nickel" tour (as he called it) and also let me buy one of the kits he had just put together. Thank you so much for showcasing places like this. We met Dennis and his wife at the farmers market the next day and had some great smoothies. Again, Thank to you and Dennis!

I've been growing sprouts for years and keep a constant rotation going. I grow them long enough to be considered microgreens. GREAT video. As others have mentioned, there are less expensive ways to do it, but for a first time grower getting a kit and having your hand held a little is definitely a good way to get started. Thanks John!

probably one of the best videos for people who have been looking into trying out micro greens. i looked the kit up and i think its a bit much for the materials but im going to pick one up anyway; and i hadn't even planned on growing them. make sure you get credit for selling one for them.

so i decided to look around to find comparable kits and this one happens to be the most extensive kit for under $100 so at least they arent trying to take you for all you have lol. i still cant shake the thought of it still being a bit steep in price but seems to be the best over all for someone that wants to try without breaking the bank.

I bought the kit a while before this video, and I thought it was great! The pics helped me to know if I was on track on my first grow, and the directions were easy to follow. I didn't have a clue where to start before I got the kit. I've grown all 10 trays now, and I got way more microgreens than I could have gotten in whole foods or trader joes for the $45.00. I had searched for kits, and found a lot of them at higher prices. One was $90.00! I thought this was a great deal.

Thanks you for the video, i found out that you can use LECA balls as a growing medium , after growign you just wash them, handle them with boiling water to sterilize and you can use the same balls again and again . Leca floats so when cleaning it you can put them in water and they float and the rubbish drops to the bottom .

Great info John, thanks for sharing. To answer some questions from the past. LED's could be used, but that's a lot of overkill just to grow micro greens (as opposed to seedlings or plants). They do appear to be 1020 trays. I'm going to try growing them on unbleached paper towels instead of pads or soilless mixes.

This past fall/winter i got in the habit of keeping a few trays in each stage going. I would encourage everyone to do it! Here in CO I just grow them a big SE widow. After you get it dialed in its easy, but the main thing I would say is dont get discouraged if your first few batches dont work out. I have a lot of regular gardening experience but it took me a few+ times to the micro greens right. To much water, mold, to many seeds, not enough seeds. Dont give up!! Youll soon get it.

I tried growing wheatgrass a few summers ago, which was successful except it turns out to be very expensive. Seeds or whole grains cost money. One lb could be $9.00. I turned to powdered superfoods by the pound has 30-60 servings. Having said that, I just ordered some 10" reflective housed clamp lights to use over the kitchen counter to grow some greens but was thinking about lettuce and beets. If I can buy beet and broccoli seeds in bulk at a reasonable cost maybe I'll go for it. Good video; you're the best, John. ciao.

I once started plants under lights and I had one normal fluorescent light fixture and one with special and very expensive grow bulbs. Well, to my surprise all of the plants were leaning towards the normal fluorescent lights. Lesson learned and money saved ever since. For a two bulb fixture, mix one "cool white" bulb with one "daylight" I think, but you get the idea for a wide spectrum of light. In other words., one blueish and one redish bulb.

I agree with a poster below... these micros are growing (almost) entirely based on the nutrients in the seed, which is fine, but that means that all the nutrients that go into you will be determined by the seed contents, which came from someone else's grow operation... which may or may not have been high quality soil.

well john to be honest this is the first time i have heard the term "micro greens" and after watching your vid i see that they are just sprouting plants. now i can go out and get a pack of seeds and a plastic tray n stuff pretty cheap, and so i cannot rly justify the $45 it costs to order from them. but i still think it is wonderful for ppl to eat healthier! so thanks for the vid! very informative as always ;)
