The original actually had 4 musketeers too. The 3 musketeers referenced in the title were Athos, Porthos and Aramis who were a famous group of musketeers. The story starts with young D’artagnan meeting them and becoming part of their group.

The whole perfume, ribbons and fans fighting techniques just seem like "approved for women at the time" items to have that could be creatively improvised as weapons. Basically a way to sneak in weapons that aren't considered weapons but can still be used as such.

Yess! I loved this concept, things that women were expected to carry around and were "acceptable" being used as weapons! It kinda reminded of how much a similar concept was developed in Totally Spies too! Although more technicologic than the ones in this movie, even totally spies had things that were considered "feminine" and "unquestioned if carried around by women/girls" as weapons! As a kid I loved this concept!

This was a hecka women empowering movie for 8 year old me. You gotta understand that these aren't Disney & Dreamworks movies which are animated but made for everyone - Barbie movies are specifically made for kids so they use some cliches, a few lame jokes, and talking animals to keep kids' attentions while relaying their message. I think one of the closest they got to more mature (Disney-esque) humor was The Pink Shoes which is basically a ballet satire - which was AMAZING

I just really love barbies. they were so advanced for their time. For girls, they were a much better role model than all the other cartoons. And here the team is completely made up of girls, and even trained by an old woman. Even now there is nothing like it. These were cartoons aimed at girls, while a bunch of others was made for boys. I'm glad you guys are registering for them. It's always interesting to see the perspective

A big problem I had with the movie was the villains final plan, He wanted to sneak in a sword, disguised as a decorations. To then attack him in the middle of the ball with everyone around him during the Fireworks, which luckily for him everyone went right to the window to look at instead of anyone hanging around behind the prince to look at them. he could've just had his men stationed at one of the entrances and sneak in a dagger, then wait or lure the prince to a secluded area and stab him, I mean his dog is literally named Brutus.

Yeah i agree! In mermaid tale Barbie doesn't want to save the mermaid kingdom and didn't believed that she was the princess. She is fleeing from her responsabilities which is wrong AND wanted to abandon the mermaids by making a wish to a magic fish. Not sure it is a good message to learn to kids and adults. In mermaidia Barbie did everything to save the mermaid kingdom. She was brave and kind, never loose hope too. What she teaches us in Mermaidia was important and positive 🙂

@AMStryx
@AMStryx Жыл бұрын
@Lady Pool Actually, in the 1st Mermaid Tale though she planned to refuse to be a princess and only helped to get rid of the mermaid changes, it was because she was never told about any of it beforehand. She was lead to believe that she was fully human and mermaids weren't real, so it isn't really fair to expect her to just immediately except this whole other role and stuff that was dumped on her out of nowhere(at least from Merlia's perspective). She basically got blindsided so Merlia's reaction is pretty realistic since it's not easy to deal with finding out that *everything* you thought you knew about the world and yourself was wrong. Plus, in the end when she is finally offered the chance to abandon her responsibilities with zero personal consequences, she passes on it and accepts the mermaid and princess stuff. Even as a princess though it would be wrong to expect her to sacrifice the entire life she had been building to only be a mermaid princess, without any kind of reservations/hesitation. It's not easy to accept responsibilities that you never actually new existed, let alone ever even asked for. Not every girl dreams of becoming a mermaid and/or princess. Also, when she called on the Dream Fish, she didn't actually know for sure what it was actually going to offer to her as her "greatest desire". In the moment she just wanted to escape a whirlpool she was trapped in and called in the fish hoping it could help her. You can't really compare Merlia(Mermaid Tale) and Elena(Fairytopia) to each other since both are made to be different characters even in personality. Their circumstances are also completely different(1 is in the "real world" and the other in a fantasy realm). Also, Elena took the thing she learned from Azure in Fairytopia to heart("for the friends you haven't met yet") so it's easy to see why she would be more than willing to help save the Prince(who had helped her out in the 1st Fairytopia) and his kingdom. Merlia on the other hand never had any personal ties to the mermaid kingdom, NOT counting the blood relation since she'd never known about it previously due to her grandfather lying to her saying both her parents were dead. She also never had a mentor like Azura to help her learn the value of helping people you don't know(besides activism).

Looking as though he was a stone statue he managed to mutter, “Your… a girl?!” I looked at him will a face of disapproval. I wasn’t angry, just disappointed. Just got off a shift and am watching you guys when I eat my lunch. I'm so happy I don't have to spend time looking for a fun video to watch. It's always a good day when you two decide to release a video together. :)

You guys should watch The Three Musketeers (2011) sometime. The musketeers is a French tale about three men names Athos, Porthos and Aramis and a young man named D'Artagnan who wants to join the musketeers after his father was murdered. (the movie also features violence. Or maybe try out the BBC series The Musketeers, it has three seasons and more violence and death)

The old Barbie movies are chaotic, but that’s more or less the point. Well, maybe not intentionally. But you need to embrace that craziness. Questioning movies like that won’t get you far. Just embrace it.

I mean, they had iconic outfits and knew how to be bada** when the time came for it. In India, there was a channel called POGO that aired the Barbie movies. I may have mentioned this already though.

P.S if you ever get on the barbie fairytopia series make sure to watch it in this order, 1. Barbie fairytopia 2. Barbie mermaidia 3. Barbie magic of the rainbow 4. Barbie mariposa (its kind of related but basically its a separate story in the same world) 5. Barbie mariposa and the fairy princess

As a tomboy who grew up in southern America and was constantly told I'm good at things for a girl or to be ladylike and generally subjected to that kind of old-fashioned way of thinking this movie was everything me as a little girl

9 - 10 year old me would do all those musketeer poses and ofcourse the legendary balancing pose from Charm School movie. I literally had a ✨DREAM✨ That I would become a musketeer one day . Now I have multiple mental illnesses and Arthritis 😅. Anyway, I love my childhood self and the dreams I had. These movies really were empowering for little girls.

Now that I am an adult I find the chandelier scene very cringe, but when this movie came out I thought it was awesome how quick their instincts were 😅 but I remember not liking the prince very much even then, his response to Barbie wanting to be a musketeer threw me off, even if it was era appropriate. This can be a very cringey movie, but I still like the message of it, definitely made a good impact in me at the time.

the funniest thing i found in this movie is they go on and on and on about being mUsKeTeErs but NOT ONCE is a musket mentioned or shown - the whole point of being a musketeer was you were specialised in using muskets, and the girls are almost certainly not trained in using them (unless some stuff went down on the farm offscreen)

Them: Wouldn't it make sense to let the baloon pop to let them down? Me: It's a hot air balloon using old tech. Look up hot air balloon accidents and also remember one of the securing rops were cut, if the balloon pops and get cought on the sharp hook. Buddy would either fall to his d£@th or be burned alive if the balloon caught fire from collapsing. Medicine back then wouldn't help either since this is during King Louie time. Also, the weapons the girls where testing out are in fact weapons that where used IRL. If the fan is made of metal, it can slice through flesh if used correctly. The ribbon can be used as a whip, a chocking hazard, or use it to trip ones enemy. Also, do NOT underestimate what's inside that perfume bottle. My girl is well versed in fashon and she could have put certain types of irritation in there, and from what I'm guessing, the concoction is pepper spray! Those men got lucky she didn't go full mental!!😂
