I think the sad leaves on the Longans while it’s putting out new growth is just natural leaf cycling. It purges its old leaves to grow fresh ones. Lots of evergreen trees do that as an alternative to being deciduous (losing them all at once).

You're right. I recall avocado leaves do that at this time of year!

I know ,in my town (Seaham) which is in the Newcastle area in New South Wales your October is more like our August was, we started having 27°C days & 7-9°C nights so in late August I decided to plant my Cassava cuttings which I managed to save during winter time because they die back by July here. They're starting to grow vigorously now,my jackfruit plants which got cold damage even in the greenhouse during July & early August are starting to push out more shoots One of them got munched on by a big snail 🐌 & another one just dropped all of its leaves but it's pushing out more growth,my largest jackfruit seedling got a fair bit of cold damage but I hope that it recovers this spring and summer,I have given them some chicken manure to fertilize them recently !

Our spring temperatures are 2 months behind Sydney and NSW North Coast, 3 months behind SEQ either side of winter. It's why my mangos and later on, jackfruit take 5-8 years to fruit!

Have you got a mountain soursop? They are more cold tolerant than other varieties. You can graft over it or get someone to do it for you.

Hi George! Could you kindly please advise how frequent and what method you do to water your fruit trees ?
@RealLifeFruitopia
@RealLifeFruitopia Күн бұрын
I hand water with a hose in the summer. Frequency depends on rainfall and when over 30C. Usually, I never water anything from April to October.

do you hand pollinate the custard apple? I just planted one few months ago and coming to life now with buds already ! I am in Perth
@RealLifeFruitopia
@RealLifeFruitopia Күн бұрын
Sometimes I do, but usually dont. Being in Perth, it'll benefit you to hand pollinate early to get a harvest before winter. Mine ripen in December as I get late flowers in summer.

Plant all your lawn areas with fruit trees so it solve your problems mowing them.

Path ways around trees are needed and thats where most of the lawn grows. The taller established trees and density planting have noticeably slowed down grass growth.

Hey Kim, choko tip can cook stir fry

Thanks for the tip! We regularly use the young tips and leaves. Unfortunately, the choko is pulling down our fence and invading into our neighbours yard, so it will have to come out.

All the young garcinias hates sun George, they love shade and water .

Yellow mangosteen was undercover until mid-October. Since then, it has received an equal mix of shade and sun. We've had only three days above 25C this month, with an average daily temperature of 21C.
