Since Covid, when many churches in my area (Victoria, Australia) bowed to the authorities on every issue, I'm worried that Christians will go along with whatever the government imposes in the future. I'm encouraging others in the church I attend to think about what is coming and prepare to stand firm. We must never agree again to stop holding services because of a virus, or to exclude from services (as some did) those members who were 'unvaccinated'. The churches must resolve to stand firm, to preach the Word without compromise, to defend Christian values - including marriage, and the sanctity of all life. We must start preparing NOW, with training, legal advice, contingency planning - whatever it takes.

And despite being a protestant she prays the Hail Mary. Yet a straight academic friend of mine started shouting abuse at me when I said to her 7 years ago that this stuff should not be let near children. While it is true that a Prime Minister whose Party commands a large majority in the House of Commons can, in theory, do anything at all that he wants, since neither the Courts, the House of Lords nor the Sovereign can overturn an Act of Parliament, just the same, there have been many cases where unpopular legislation, returned for amendment by the Lords, has failed to pass in the Commons, as a result of many MPs in the governing Party announcing that they propose to either vote against the Government, or abstain. Nothing wrong with having authority - judges in court, police in the streets and teachers in the classroom all have and exercise (hopefully!) due authority. You made a fantastic point, the islamic Allah is not the same as Yahweh, if Allah condones and even really inspired the revelation and behaviour of Muhammad then this is clearly a totally different God. Not Christ at all. Christ would have been hard pressed saying good words about Muhammad. Muhammad also admits in the hadith that many of his revelations were actually those of the devil or demons... So how can we trust the word of a man who is easily corrupted by demons... This is something Peter Hitchens doesn't understand either when he says Muslims pray to the same God. We do not! Also a reason why Catholics shouldn't eat halal, because these aren't our prayers being said. They're marked in a compromised tradition. Though, the catholic church has historically said that eating halal isn't an issue, what are your thoughts Dr Ashenden? Should we eat food prayed over by a false religion in the name of a false God?
