I would love to know where people are getting the money for buying the excessively high priced guitars?

How does an electric guitar pick up the sound of the wood itself? Do not the pickups only pick up the string vibration? How is it that the pickup can transfer the sound of the wood on the electric? On an acoustic I can understand how different woods would change the tone, but I have a hard time understanding how alder and ash sound is translated through the pickups.

It's troubling that guitars are compared to art pieces, this just drives prices and greed up taking instruments out of the hands of 99.9% of players. There's too much hype because some vintage instruments are not that good.
