This is a really nice kit and you did a fantastic job. I wish they would make a modern version with the 8-blade props. They look so much cooler. I ended up designing and 3D printing my own but a kit option would be better.

Thank you very much! I'm completely with you, the large 4-blade props look pretty clumsy compared to the modern 8-blades. 😉 Thanks for watching!

The "Eye In The Sky!" Hawkeyes are one cool carrier aircraft!!! Miss the old S-3 Vikings though! I have lately become really interested in the 1/144 scale because I live in a 1200 square foot condominium. I am a s well a visual artist( drawing/painting) with many of my walls taken up by artworks. This scale gives me a chance to get back into scale modeling at a size I can build and display in a small home. Love the videos! Cheers

Thank you Dale! I also find 1/144 scale really interesting, like it a lot! I don't have too many models in my collection but space is limited so I find 1/144 a great alternative. And some models like the B-52 or Saturn V are just as impressive and pretty large in that scale. 😏 Thanks for watching! Cheers, Oliver/RWO

Thank you! I was also a bit surprised how small this model was when I opened the box! 🙂 It looks tiny compared to the B-52 in 1/144 scale which I recently built. Thanks for watching!

Super professional video, mate! I also build 98% of my models are 1/144 scale. I find that it's a better challenge for me to make detail. I like how you made the time to cut new lines after sanding. Thanks for sharing your build!

To be honest, at first I was not too overwhelmed by the amount of detail on the parts, but in the end a lot of little things came together very nicely. Glad you like it! 🙂 Thanks for watching!

Very nice, Oliver! The Hawkeye is an extraordinary plane. I love the whole appearance of that bird and you captured it perfectly. Well done! I also have two Hawkeyes in my stash. Your video put them some ranks up on my list of models I have to build next. :) Cheers!

Thank you, appreciate it! I also like the Hawkeye a lot, a very special plane. Wanted to build one for a long time. 1/72 would have been my preferred scale but then this little beauty appeared on my desk when I went on a 1/144 shopping spree. 😆 Which Hawkeye kits do you have in your stash? Cheers!

You've got a new subscriber right here! I love your modelling techniques and the kits you choose for the videos are what I also like for modelling. Cheers mate!. Btw I got a question, how do you clean the excess panel line accent? Huge thanks in advance.
@RWOModels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comment, and welcome aboard! 👍 You can easily clean up Tamiya panel line accent colors or similar enamel-based washes with a cotton-bud or small brush moistened with enamel thinners or white spirit. These do not affect acrylic paints and varnishes underneath and only clean up the wash/panel line accents. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching! 🙂

On your Light Gull Grey basecoat, how much did you mix the gloss varnish? 50/50? How much did you thin it? I'm having a lot of trouble getting a smooth finish with Vallejos light grays and whites, but you did it here very nicely.
@RWOModels3 жыл бұрын
I can't remember exactly but it was something like 5 parts paint, 10 parts gloss varnish, 4 parts thinner (Vallejo Airbrush Thinner). This was the mixing ratio I came out with for my B-52 build, and it was similar to what I used on the Hawkeye. I mostly use the 0.2mm nozzle and approx. 15psi air pressure. I have to agree, some grey and white paints are a bit more difficult to thin down. Since I hate it when my airbrush clogs up, I tend to go a bit on the thinner side with those paints and then reduce pressure if necessary. 🙂 Thanks for watching!

When ever I build a 1/800 or 1/720 carrier kit, the first thing I do is take one E-2, use it as a C-2, the other I take my time and attach and paint the radar and tail.

Hi Oliver, that was extraordinary work for such a small scale, and it came out perfectly, but how is your eye sight after working on such a small kit? Take care and keep safe, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
@RWOModels3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Les! 👍 Indeed the kit is very small, much smaller than I expected! 😆 To tell you the truth, besides wearing glasses constantly due to my heavy astigmatism I am using two different magnifying glasses when working on my builds, one that is mounted to my desk on a moving arm, or another one which is strapped to my forehead (don't know how you would call these things). Without all that glass I wouldn't be able to see much. 🤓😄 Stay safe, all the best from Germany!

Wow, that will be hard to replicate in a scale model. 😆 In fact I've never been inside a military aircraft but heard a couple of times that many planes have a "distinctive" smell... Will keep that in mind, thanks for sharing your impressions. 👍🙂
