I flew many times on the Gooses when my family lived in Avalon on Catalina Island in the early 1960s, back to the main land. The sound those radials make brings back many memories. Weird though that it took so long to get off of the Step. It was either fully loaded, or the pilot intentionally kept it in the water.

Mostly likely fully loaded from the looks of it , the whole plane is low in the water not just the nose

I flew the Goose, as a passenger with Antilles Air Boats, a few times between San Juan (Puerto Rico) and St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands). That was in the 1970's.

Did you fly on the old Mother Goose then, too? She had left Avalon, Catalina Island and was down flying Antilles Air Boats then.

In 10 years, nobody can produce a video this good of a Grumman Goose takeoff. It just means that the technology means nothing. The photographer means everything.

Love that radial engine sound during takeoff. I prefer that sound over a ferrari's anytime. It's just music to my ears.

Great looking plane the radial engines sound nice but i'd much prefer a turbo turbo prop setup. A modern carbon fiber version of this plane would be spectacular.

According to Pen Air in an article I did not manage to post, their annual costs about 100.000$. But they are landing in salt water and probably have many flight hours per year.

I was wondering how much it costs to maintain this plane. things like storage and fuel, maybe monthly or annual trips to the mechanic, not exact numbers but maybe ah ballpark estimate.I know this might be ah personal question for some people so.... I'll understand if you don't answer.

ياالرغاية اسمعني مليح هناك مثل عربي يقول من تدخل فيما لا يعنيه ، وجد مالا يرضيه، جيت نبين بلي نفهم خير من الاميرال نيميتز والجنرال جورج باتون والجنرال ماك آرثر وغيرهم من كبار ضباط الجيش الأمريكي خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية حول مسألة لماذا يا أمريكيين أبائكم أغبياء وليسوا أذكياء مثلي؟! لماذا لم يستخدموا الطائرات المائية كمقنبلات ضد اليابانيين واستخدموا فكرة غبية إلا وهي طائرات البي ٢٥ و٢٩ انطلاقا من حاملات الطائرات وهناك فيلم صور لنا كيف كان المشكل شاقا من التدريب إلى التنفيذ، قلت لهم لماذا يا أمريكيين يا أغبياء استخدمتم الطائرات المائية لنقل البريد العسكري والمدني وفي مهام الاستطلاع والإنقاذ ولم يخطر على بال كبرائكم أنها أفضل من البي ٢٥ و ٢٩ يقلعون من حاملات الطائرات، كنت أظن أنهم سينتبهون إلى الاي كيو المرتفع لدي لكن الغيرة والحسد منعتهم من ذلك ومنعوني من الحصول على الفيزا

wn6904k thanks for the compliment. A small Canon cam used. Secret is slow panning and not overusing zoom. The instructor flew and I shot because he shoots better than panning. see: www.goosehangar.com for more.
