The new drive belt I fitted actually goes through the bottom of the motor bearing so saved me taking the whole top of the machine apart.

where did you get the replacement cam from? opened mine up to find the rubbery bit had broken in two.

Think I may have answered may own question. is it just a pinch roller (about 10 mm or 13mm including the shaft)

On the machine I have the selector has jammed in the reverse position any ideas how to free it up repair really appreciate any info

mine did the same... it was because the cam broke. taking the top off and pulling the metal lever down while turning the selector allowed me to shift it back to stop.

The cam must have broke in pieces, common problem. But you can use a Cassette deck pinch roller to do the job.

@@harveysvintageaudio Thank you. It's back in the stack of to be fixed jobs. I've got the little shaft saved and will test with a pinch roller from a tape deck. One thing I did notice with this deck is it took some time for the motor to kick in from power up (about a minute) so if anyone else out there thinks the motor is broken give it a minute it might just kick into life.

@@mikesharpe3290 Maybe the belts need changing, they normally do go bad after a few years, especially the original rubber ones. ps. Good job you have the little shaft as they are impossible to get hold off.
