I swear on the track penny royalty every time after Kurt screams there is like a hint or an essence just a trace of his voice that bleeds from it and it's so amazing...Kurt was so special to many of us. Good for Kurt to have cared more about how he felt about the album than the label or some others. I love all the albums differently, but this one has always been my favorite. Time gone by has proven it to be the masterpiece it truly is. Also, Perfume is a hauntingly beautiful book. I only read it once, but I can understand how someone could read it ten times because it’s very well written.
@zachariahhenzel3518 Жыл бұрын
I think that this is the best album of all time. Perhaps it's because so much energy behind the music. Or maybe it's the production or the lack thereof. How does a band start with Floyd the Barber or Paper Cuts and get here? It's like there's a gem in every place you listen and look. You don't have to look hard to find moments of unexpected harmony and bewildering cacophony - sometimes at the same time. This is the only Nirvana album where Kurt's lyrics were included as he wanted to be taken more seriously as a songwriter. He and his bandmates in Nirvana meant it. This is a serious album. But at the end of the day, this record is always worthy of your attention because the music is just so damn good. Whenever I hear that broken sort of car crash of an intro to Serve the Servants, I feel the same sense of excitement and wonder that I felt when I heard it for the first time. Thank you. What else can I say?

7:33 - Giving Frances Farmer's appearance, background and the themes of the album. It would make perfect sense that the anatomical angel in the cover of the album is actually Frances Farmer herself just medically themed by Kurt. He properly wanted to be respectful to Frances Farmer by linking her life experiences of been trapped in the mental institution into a visual art by drawing her in such a way that the anatomical angel would be a perfect art piece that showcases her and her life struggles in a medical form way by having the angel be anatomical to give context that the album would be medical theme based.

Because Kurt and his band are not responsible for the release. I guess they recorded those tracks and decided to not use them for an album. But hence the contract those songs belonged to the label and wanted to make money off of them. So the record label released "Incesticide" not Nirvana

I always thought that if Kurt didn´t die, Nirvana would have split or go on hiatus for a number of years until Kurt gets clean and things fall in their right place. I imagine Kurt releasing solo albums, and if Nirvana got together again a few years after In Utero, I somehow believe they would have made a similar stylistic leap as Radiohead have done. I remember Kurt telling in several interviews that the Grunge hype will fade out and it would be nice to move on, and in another interview he always said that he wanted to do something "with breakdancers" - So Nirvana moving away from distorted grunge/punk sound to a more refined, electronic music would be a logical step. It would be exciting to hear what Kurts "Ok Computer" would have sounded like. I also agree with Krist who said a million times in interviews that Kurt could have done anything he wanted. Be it paintings or sculptures, solo albums, collaborations with other musicians...It would be brilliant to watch him evolve his style and art. Whatever happened in April of 1994 shouldn´t have happened at all. Kurts death created a huge void in music and art visible until this day.

It's a great album,, but it's a frustrating album because t's a person self-destructing and deliberately writing abrasive material every other song to drive people away. That abrasive material is also good, but it's the self-sabotage of it all that makes the record so depressing, honest, and real.

In Utero is one of my fav records. That being said, Cobain’s insistence on signing to a major label is likely why there were initial difficulties in releasing the album. Geffen is trying to move units.. they wanted another Nevermind, and Cobain didn’t. If they stayed on Subpop I’d imagine they’d have had a lot more artistic freedom in releasing the album they wanted to release.

Some people say that Kurt Cobain died in 1994, but actually it was Paul McCartney who died in 1966 and was quickly replaced by Faul McFartney. There never was a Furt Fobain. (There was a Fohn Fennon, however, as the original John Lennon also died in 1966. Him and Paul were together at the time, and were both killed in the same way. Unfortunately, I cannot divulge their cause of death, as doing so would cause a bomb in my neck to explode. Frankly, I've probably already shared too mu
@miggy78Ай бұрын
Bleach’s lyrics were based on how easy to remember. Kurt was worry playing guitar and singing would be too technically hard to pull off. Nevermind’s lyrics were more melody focused and how well they sounded when sung and heard. Even though Kurt always said lyrics were secondary and music was #1. Nevermind used tons of Kurt’s poetry. But most of just didn’t have too much meaning. In Utero reflected more of what Kurt was thinking and feeling. Sad to say Courtney influenced Penny Royalty and a few other tracks. And by this time Kurt was aware of his influence on pop culture hence the intro to “all apologies”….even one was gay. Etc. (My opinions obviously but as an artist Kurt was very inspiring.) I do like how Kurt’s new outlooks influenced the lyrics and poetry of In Utero. I mean Courtney Love was pregnant through most of it. And apparently heart shaped box is a nod to when Kurt and Courtney were courting each other. To this day idk where the Nevermind line from the Nevermind poem: “the 2nd coming came in last and out of the closet and at the end of your rainbow and the end of your rope.
