I have pushed snow in skid steers, trucks, backhoes, and loaders from coast to coast in Canada. I still enjoy watching a professional at work. My sister could not understand why I would want to watch other people push snow. She just didn't get it. This is soothing.

I remember when I was a child in Sweden. The soothing sound of someone clearing the snow outside in their tractor when I was about to go to sleep. The orange lights from the tractor dancing around my room through the window.

I have similar memories from Canada, late at night after everyone in the city had gone to sleep, the plows would come out, and it seemed like the loaders they used only had one throttle position, cause I'd fall asleep (or some times wake up excited) hearing the operator constantly flooring it and letting it return to idle in a rhythmic manner... They replaced those loaders recently with first, a different model, and then they changed contractors now who just use salt trucks with plows on the front, so, it isn't the same anymore...

Came back to comment, nice video. Up here in northern Minnesota we normally use either trucks or road graders for it, and they tend to have a mounted pneumatic side-plow that can be extended or shortened to more or less clear both lanes at the same time. Works great.

How often do you have to sand or smoothen the plow attachment? Noticed alot of sparks from the metal grinding on the pavement, that cant be good for the plow.

Plows have replaceable blades. They can flip it to get use out of each side, then replace it with a new one. It’s just a strip on metal.

The Caterpillar 972M xe is a beast its overkill for this lol. But look how cledan its getting the road. I would even say he shold get anotehr plow in front that is longer and bigger

I dunno, seems to be sized appropriately, given the terrain, when you break down the plow analysis. Some parts sure, but for the rest being the majority, this seems to fit the middle of the application. Just my observation.

And I suspect that if the machine were smaller, it would suffer in more concentrated wear and tear; being so strong spreads the work through the entire machine, ensuring what I would assume a more cost efficient operation. Rarely is fewer more big, than smaller but many, prove to be the more efficient, but in cases like this when diesel is a factor, this is the route to follow. Just my intuition.
