I am one of THOSE peeps - full dinner, pies, formal table for 12, 4 house guests, etc - this was my 20th year! Threw in Xmas shopping all done (online) And finished off the week with Xmas decorating. It’s a killer week but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday so it’s totally worth it. Totally ready for Mishmas!

The story about the rot is so touching. My heart hurts for the many dogs who are mistreated. I’m so glad Ms. Butters is doing well. I cooked for 5 of us, had the turkey and all the trimmings. It’s exhausting for sure. Seems I have to start early Wednesday to have it all ready for Thanksgiving day. Hey Michelle, you might wanna look for a brown sugar container that hosts a terracotta disk. You basically soak the stone for like 10 min, pat it dry and place it in the container and it’ll make your brown sugar soft for weeks. I got mine from Martha Stuart brand it’s working great for me. Just make sure to soak the stone every once in a while if you found the brown sugar dry again.

36:08 It's an herb chopper/roller/mincer primarily used for *FRESH* herbs. For dry herbs use a coffee bean grinder that you dedicate to spices and dried herbs. OR use a mortar & pestle.

Mommy’s talking baby….😅😂 I still do the traditional Thanksgiving dinner…just on a smaller scale. We are creatures of habit where our preferences are concerned. I’ve hosted Thanksgiving dinner on a large scale many, MANY times in my life. I used to love cooking for a crowd. Not as much anymore. Black Friday is also our 49th wedding anniversary this year. I’m so blessed to have navigated the ups and downs of life with my best friend….

You can make simple chicken that’s super delicious! All you need is olive oil, lemon, garlic, salt and pepper. Stuff a whole chicken with 2 lemons cut in half 4-6 whole garlic cloves add olive oil, salt and pepper all over, inside and out. Bake on 400-450 until the legs come off easily. You can use chicken breast, thighs and legs too. Just put the lemon halves and garlic cloves around the pan. You can add potatoes cut in half and carrots cut in half to make a whole meal in one. It comes out with the meat melt in your mouth and perfectly crunchy skin every time and it makes its own gravy. 😊

I hosted 15 not including myself and my husband. Thanksgiving is my favorite. It’s my Superbowl. But I always have the “what have I gotten myself into” moment. Can’t wait for Mishmas!!

Wow…that’s an incredible story about the fight Miss Butters was in. Once my neighbor was watching his daughter’s dog (same breed as Miss Butters, funnily enough), and that dog and one of mine started fighting at the fence line. Funny thing - the guy actually had 2 Rottweilers of his own; never had any problems between any of our dogs. Anyway, their dog got some cuts and bruises (just like yours did!) but thankfully she was also fine. Didn’t even need stitches…just got some cuts on the fence. I immediately wrote a letter and put it in the mailbox. I apologized and offered to pay his vet bills, even though it wasn’t clear whose dog instigated, but his dog was smaller so got worse cuts and I wanted to be a good neighbor. I didn’t even really have money for vet bills…I was in grad school…but it just seemed like the right thing to do. The fence is actually ours…he doesn’t have a fence, he just relies on ours. But in response to my apology he called animal control and then also took me to court and tried to sue me. Turns out his daughter is a lawyer, and they were using my apology as “admittance of fault.” That story has a horrible ending because I had to put my dog down (because animal control was going to take her, and she was pit bull so they probably would have killed her, and I didn’t want her to go through that fear.) I still cry over her…the day she died was one of the worst days of my life. Every day I pray that bad things happen to that old neighbor. I also feel really conflicted….since then a bunch of people have told me NEVER apologize for ANYTHING, because people will use that to sue you. But it just feels so…inhuman…anyway, I’m really glad your story had a happy ending and just knowing that guy exists gives me a little bit of healing. My experience is one of the life events that has made me really misanthropic. Oh, and the judge dropped the case because the fence was ours and he failed to fence in his dogs, so he had no case to sue… 🤷🏻‍♀️

For someone like me, who loves to cook, Thanksgiving is like my Boston Marathon. I did two turkey breasts, with sage leaves and thyme fronds under the skin. Slathered all over with buddah. Roasted crispy and juicy. So good. ALL the sides, of course. I'm still recovering.

✋I made a full thanksgiving meal by myself this year for the first time. It was an ordeal! Lots of standing by the oven, multitasking, cleaning, chopping. I slept for 10 hours afterwards. Never again 😅

I didn't have a Thanksgiving dinner Thursday. But I was out at a restaurant with a family group of 11. As an observant Jew with lots of family, the 'joke' that goes around our community is that we do Thanksgiving every Friday night for the Sabbath. Add to that my being married to a Morrocan who's family is even bigger and I presume you know the family meals are not your normal (my mother-in-law was born and raised in Marrakesh and never purchases the starter salads. All homemade. But having always had lots of family, I love it. Lockdown did force my husband to learn and gradually appreciate the nuclear family celebrations 😉

I have a new tree this year too. Ordered one from Balsam Hill a few weeks after Christmas last year (on sale). What a kind, considerate man to stop and talk to your husband about Butters, offering to pay her vet bills, etc. Finding out he rehabilitates Rottweilers was so heart warming! I do not cook a whole turkey. I order a turkey breast, all the sides and dessert, pick it up the day before, and then prepare it that day. There were just the 6 of us. It's a lot of work for 30 min of eating and then all of the cleaning up! Am excited for Mishmas and the Advent calendars. Looking forward to hearing the details of your successful meeting!

Have you gotten the shearling Birkenstocks? Many people say the shearling crocs are so comfortable. If you get the blinds that go up and down with a remote you won’t have to deal with the long strings of blinds of regular blinds. I love using a remote because I find blinds to be exhausting. You can always sopping up your brown sugar by putting it in the oven. Look that up online it’s very easy. But, store your brown sugar in a Ziploc bag that is closed and all the air squeezed out, then put the bag with the brown sugar into an airtight container. I love brown sugar and it breaks my heart when it goes hard

I agree that Tom Ford was the one that started Gucci’s resurgence in the 90s. I, too, remember just how iconic his slinky, sexy clothes for women really blew up fashion. I have so much admiration for the man; he’s literally been successful at everything he’s tried. If he does decide to take some time off and grieve, the man certainly deserves that. What an icon. I love low-key easy Thanksgivings! This year, the kids were with their Dad so I had dinner with my BFF, her daughter and Mom. She ordered a catered, take out dinner. RE: Gucci, I thought Tom Ford too at first but I think they'll hire someone younger and possibly a POC which would be cool. Your kitchen is perfect for Moroccan runner! Just a thought. I'm suprised you don't visit Southern California( L.A., Orange County, San Diego, and Santa Barbara) more often as it's only a 4-5 hour drive, especially during the summer months. There is so much to do and see in these cities. I know New Yorkers are "trained" to dislike California(especially Southern CA) but it's far better than always being in Las Vegas during the Broiling summers. The beaches in So. Cal. alone are worth the trip. 🏖🏝

Good morning..always enjoy a GRWM. I couldn't agree more about a good haircut, no matter the length of your hair. I have a pixie and boy when you find a good stylist you hold onto them! I miss the days of having to cook for many people, family members. Its been a few yrs now, but we are fewer in number and scattered far away. We were low key as well, and did our taco fiesta and enjoyed every morsel. Btw...not sure if you heard but the dog of the year at the 2022 dog show in New York, is the french bulldog! Late 90s Prada is stunning. That colour palette is one of my favourite 💚🧡🤎 I was *shocked* about Alessandro Michele!! Funny, I thought Tom Ford for a second too. Oh, the first time I went to Century 21 (the main one by World Trade Centre, pre-9/11) I tried on a red velvet Gucci tuxedo... couldn't afford it so didn't get it. That was, wow, almost 25 years ago and I still think about it. SUCH beautiful wearable works of art.

I host thanksgiving usually every year. Well, this year it was just hubby and I, but he still wanted the big turkey. 3 am morning of, he got called to work, so I had to put it off until the next day (which was his birthday) needless to say he wasn’t home til 10 pm that night. So I decided to slow roast the damn turkey all day for a pull apart (shredded) and then reheat on Saturday! It was still delicious, but to go all day trying to prepare, for no one and nothing, yeah, next year someone can buy me takeout😂

My husband and I made a small Thanksgiving meal just for the two of us. I wanted to have turkey so we just bought 2 turkey thighs. He made a pecan pie and cranberry relish and I made a sausage stuffing. I will NEVER cook another Thanksgiving meal like that. Too much work, too my cleanup. OMG! In fact, I really don't want to ever cook again.

For the haircut theory, it depends on the length & type of cut. It does apply to longer styles and it does not apply to short ones. The short ones look overgrown three months later. The long ones still look…..long🤷‍♀️

Regarding Tower 28 mascara, I thought it was just mine that got gloppy after it seemed so great and now it seems to have dried up. I was going to purchase another one thinking it was a one off, but I’m rethinking it now. Bummer!

I have had the same experience with the Tower 28 mascara. It’s harder to work with now. It was effortless in the beginning.
