I just went to Sephora last week to get new foundation. It had been years since I switched brands and tried something new. At least 7 or 8 years. I know that is a very long time but I had been going through a period of not wearing a lot of make up, due to health reasons and then working from home. The last time I got color matched back then they had me at the make up counter and had a whole consult and showed me all the brands options. Brought samples to me. I tried several that day. It was a fun experience. Last week the worker literally scanned my head in the middle of the aisle as other guests are trying to get by us. The counter was also empty. Then she swatched two different brands and that was that. I ended up really liking the fenty foundation I went with but I was just surprised how quick and rushed it felt. Maybe I went on a bad day but it just felt like a rushed process and I felt incredibly awkward standing in an aisle getting my forehead scanned as people moved around us.

Ah yes! The ever so helpful negative review viewing. I used to work at Olive Garden and the manager made us do that. She was always on a power trip. The last manager never did that and actually did the opposite by posting all the positive reviews and that was way more helpful. Negative review viewing isn't a Sephora thing, it's a manager thing.

I’ve never understood doing face before eyes. I go ham on my eyes without worrying or having to be careful at all, swipe fallout off with a wipe, then do my face. I don’t know why this wouldn’t be automatic when eyes can be so messy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I find it's hard to blend my foundation around my eyes after doing my eyes first. Also I put foundation under my brows because my skin is more pale there. And I never seem to get fall out from shadows so it's the opposite for me 😅 I find it strange watching people do their eyes first 😅❤

I went to makeup school. We were taught face before eyes because a lot of people like to have the “getting ready” process photographed for events especially weddings and most people don’t want pics of themselves without foundation. So once that’s done, they can get shots of you doing the eyes and they won’t feel as insecure about the photos. It makes sense but it’s definitely a skill because eyes first is easier 💯

I think they stoped that since covid applying makeup on ppl... or I'm guessing because everything is so gross everyone touches everything now. Well at least in my store in Toronto Canada and they stoped giving "samples' the one they take from products on the floor. (thank goodness I don't want poop particles in my sample from floor samples everyone touched) And isn't that what they use for the makeovers.?🤮
