You likely saw a stream at some point when a gifted membership happened. It only picks people who have been to the channel (watched, followed, liked a video etc).

@@OverlyCriticalAnime You can turn off 'gifted memberships' in your settings if you don't want to receive gifted memberships from channels on KZbin (it is off by default). It's a completely automatic system and people gifting can't pick specific people to gift to.
