The Oxford heated grips are the most common after market solution but I chose to install the Koso Apollo heated grips on my BMW G310GS because they are very high quality and look more like factory heated grips, with the control and display built into the left grip rather than using a separate interface box that's mounted to the handlebars or on the dash. I did need to use a round rasp and coarse sandpaper to remove some material from inside the right heated grip because the baby GS apparently has a slightly larger throttle tube. I strongly advise discarding the tube of cyanoacrylic super glue that is provided and using clear RTV silicone that won't glue your fingers together and has a much longer working time to avoid gluing the heated grip firmly in place when halfway installed. I removed the two screws on the sides of the headlight to wiggle the headlight assembly out of the beak. It seems like it can't be removed that way but it can if twisted just right. After the second time, it's easy. I then wired the heated grips to one of the two accessory ports on the sides of the back of the display. Each of the two connectors can source 7 amps that is switched off and on with the ignition. I did need to buy a special crimp connector on eBay to fit the weird BMW electrical connector. This is a good time to add a dual high power USB charging port to the dash or mounted to the handlebars. I also hid an Invoxia GPS tracker in the beak that's recharged every time I ride, with a six month battery life between charges. Having never ridden with heated grips, I assumed that they'd be a nice luxury that I'd use occasionally. I use them all the time and won't have a bike without heated grips again. I've since made an ultralight heated vest from two car seat heaters and I'll add a heated seat when upgrading to a Seat Concepts seat.

Really awesome work mate. My dealer quoted 3 hours to do the job (but could be less) and it was great to see how much work is involved. Thanks for the tip about heating the switch bracket too. I have a Givi windscreen on mine, and at 172cm (about 5"8 I think) the wind now hits me in half way up the visor. I think I need to cut an inch or so off it to get clean air flow and stability over the whole helmet, or add a deflector to the top of the screen so I'm in a nice bubble behind it. How do you rate the PUIG?
@ADVLARRY2 жыл бұрын
Thanks brother. They quoted me the same. That switch definitely had me scratching my head for a minute there. I’m about 5,8 myself and I find the windscreen pushing most of the wind right over my head. But nothing really helps over 65. My neck really took a beating on my last trip. I’ve been thinking of adding an extension as well just to see if it helps
