TODAY WE REBUILT THE 41 YEAR OLD GS1100E STARTER STEP BY STEP AND IT IS VERY SIMILAR TO MANY OTHER MOTORCYCLES.

IT IS A COMMON STARTER AND I WOULD TRY PARTSZILLA,RICKS ELECTRIC,EBAY of course or any of the places that cater to these older bikes.SHOULD BE AVAILABLE.best of luck.

I never had to take a starter off yet. But on a Guzzi takes about 5 min. not kidding. Enjoyed the video Windy and RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!

Love your videos.....recently acquired a GS1100. Any suggestions on where to find a starter housing? Over time, the magnets in mine have started to crack and fall apart ...leading to preventing the starter from turning

My '83 GS1100 starter motor bearings are open, not sealed. Cleaning everything up and wondering if I should add grease to those bearings? Seems like I should, was just concerned with adding grease and possibly having it migrate all over the inside of the starter, going where it shouldn't. Any input on greasing those bearings or not? And great video, its been a big help as I work my way through getting this old project bike going again, thanks.

ONE CHOICE IS BUY THE REBUILD KIT FOR 20 BUCKS AND USE THE NEW BEARINGS WITH SEALS. I AM NOT SURE THE GREASE WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE IF YOU OVER GREASE? CHECK IN WITH ANY OUTFIT THAT REBUILDS MOTORS FOR EVEN BETTER ADVICE AND IN SOME CASES YOU CAN PULL THE SEALS OF SEALED BEARINGS AND PRESS ONTO THE ONES IN YOUR STARTER.
