Again Nicely explained. Taking to feed to the switch is so much easier to work out. Been doing this method to my old house. At least most switches have a neutral now. So easier to add the new fancy switches which require neutral 😇

In Germany 1-way light switches are no longer a thing for some time. It's actually cheaper for the manufacturers to manufacture more 2-way switches instead of manufacture 1-way switches on a separate line. Especially since it is easy to use a 2-way switch for a simple on/off application. That reduced the prices of these switches, before they were more expensive. But since they became standard, the prices dropped.

I've seen someone else ask it, but it wasn't answered - what is the need for the 4th neutral and permanent line (the one that "goes out" - not to the lights), where's it going? And why? Is it necessary? If you don't need to connect to another bedroom can these simply be left out?
@markgourley3745 Жыл бұрын
Wouldnt it make more sense if the first switch (closest to the bedroom door) be the bedroom light switch as it would be the closest? That would make the switch closest to the en-suite the en-suite switch.

I’m trying to do this, BUT, the left switch is two way as in it’s my living room light that can also be operated by another one way switch. I’m trying to use the right switch to operate a separate light (external). Been advised to run neutral from a light and live from the switch, but not working.

Where does the 4th neutral wire go? I understand there's one from the source to the connector and one to each of the two light fittings, but can't figure out what the other one is doing

So to make things fun, I would like to do the same thing, 2 plate method but with 2 gang smart dimmers which require 35mm backbox,.Would I be fine with a 35mm back box? Im afraid for to force the issue with a 47mm backbox as the internal block is about 50mm ish haha? Thanks in Advance!

Love this video didn’t know it could be done like this but question what is the other end connections wire like e.i. Is all the lives in one way go clip and all blues and earths the same in there own way go clips then just follow the procedure in this video and that will give me to separate switches for two separate lights from one live feed , apologise just in the middle of lowering ceiling and want to have a central fan light on one switch and down light on a separate switch like your video so was wondering would this work

Could the bridge then be used for a 4 gang so have three bridges for 4 switches?
@Dr.Stacker2 ай бұрын
It could but aren't you worried about the fact that you'd need 6 twin and earth cables and a monsterous backbox to fit everything in?

If anyone asks can you use a two gang switch as two one way switches then they shouldn't be.anywhere near electricity.

on that thought... 30/1/23 allegedly tested & reported to IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations using the above method uses a single yellow/green 3m (approx) sheathed wire for the switched live? Installed by a 'qualified Electrician'? Another light switch with metal back box, broken CPC and held on the wall by paint!! I'm not qualified as a sparkie but even I know that's wrong/dangerous. These videos are educational and provide proof of the CORRECT way - even for us DIY's or other professional roles.
