In this video we use BS7671 On-Site Guide to workout the maximum distance between supports for steel wire armour SWA cable in accessible positions. Using Appendix D table D1 in the On-Site Guide we can find the clipping distances both on the horizontal and vertical plane for SWA cable. The video includes a full demonstration on how to calculate the maximum distances of the cable supports.

I was always tort to space the cleats every 10 or 15 inches apart depending on how the cables are run horizontal every 10inc vertical every 15 inch Excellent video as always Gaz 👍

@@GSHElectrical the measurement of the Realm prior to the EEC later EU interference. Easier to see on a tape measure.

Without any official measurements, I would clip every alternate brick horizontally and vertically, every 3 courses. I would imagine that is well within regs.

On horizontal I always do 450mm.

Even for more than 15 or less than/equal to 20mm?

I almost never use cable cleats, if a cable is on show. They look so ugly. I use Large Buckle Clips the same type as the DNO have been using for years

Those buckle clips are uglier. On the other hand, the big black thick cable strewn across the wall is so handsome.
