You are so good at teaching. In the switch, why is the live side called "common" and why is the other one called L1?

The switch moulding from the switch manufacturer is the same for a one way switch and a two way switch, but in a one way switch derivative one connection is blanked. In the two way derivative there would be a common, and two others, L1 and L2, for the two way lighting to work. The switch in one position will connect common to L1 and in the other position will connect common with L2.

Being required to use rulers for this kind of teaching drawing feels a little like… I dunno, pointless? It sure doesn’t demonstrate any more understanding of the theory, only of being able to use a ruler. Which doesn’t really seem like a particularly valuable skill that necessarily has to be taught to adults.
