God bless this old girl, even with a large load like that, I kept my eye on a couple of pieces and that big old agitator managed to get them turned over and back up again. New equipment just don’t come close to these vintage work horses.

No, they don't! You should check out automaticwasher.org.

I remember my grandmother owning this exact machine in the 1960s but it was a Montgomery Wards model, probably manufactured by Norge. That machine sounded like a full-blown factory when it was fired up and running! These were the washing machines we baby boomers grew up around. See, everything was tougher back then! lol The impeller machines today seem so wimpy to me.

Those old Norge washers never got the fanfare they deserved. They weŕ such work horses. Built solid. People comment that they were crude, load, and unattractive. Yeah, they let you know they were running, LOL, but its a washing machine,, not a contestant in a beauty contest. It washed the clothes. Thats what it was designed to do

That agitator looks like an antique piece of decor 😂 love it
@rileysteve4 жыл бұрын
They do better with smaller items than bully ones. The tub is small and the agitator is huge. The skirt is almost as big around as the bottom of the tub. So it may not have the best roll-over, but, look at that water. It will thrash the hell out of everything and I can tell you from experience it will clean the load every time. Incredibly effective rinsing also helps. These things are brutes. The electric version of pounding clothes on a rock.They were meant to wash factory and farm workers clothes. I don't bother to use the Delicate speed on my '62.

Great vintage workhorse, is that what they call the "Burpalator" agi ? Certainly moves the load around, what powder do you use ?

Hello Mike, yes it's the Burpolator. I used tide with bleach for this load.

Can't beat the sound of the vintage Norges and GE Filter Flo. During the beginning of the rinse cycle, is it recycling the water that's being pumped in, or is it draining water out while pumping the water in?

Nice washer! What kind of dishwasher do you have? I'd like to hear what a Westinghouse dishwasher sounds like. Also, if you still have the whirlpool washer, I'd love to see the inner workings in action. I'd also would love to see the inner workings of this washer in action too.

I know it's vintage, but it is overloaded, and as a result you get poor cleaning action, as the clothes are being thrash about which causes wear on your clothing, I am being realistic here. It's a vintage machine you want it to last so be way with the machine.
@patcola73354 жыл бұрын
This agitator was known to do this. Look at the size of the base fins and the slower oscillation. This is how these washers cleaned.
@Gsohoover4 жыл бұрын
This machine's agitator is so large it doesn't really turn stuff over. It just thrashes it around in the tub.

@@Gsohoover You don't always need turnover for good cleaning. After all, Norge proved that.
