I've listened to a lot of guitar players in my 80 + years but, I have never heard anyone play better than you. I watch all of and love your videos and tell everyone I know about you and share your videos on fb.

So glad the are keeping up the heritage! They had a great display at Merlefest this year! Loved Doc

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you this, but you are a joy to listen to, not only with your playing, but your laid-back, straight-shooting, and knowledgeable commentary is good for the soul. It’s wonderful to finally find a Gallagher aficionado! It’s always been a humble company based in the heart of bluegrass country. There are so many “boutique” brands out there now that it makes my head spin and, after buying a SG-50 a few months ago, I couldn’t agree more that Gallagher should be thought of as among the best of the best. I’m happy to hear that the company is thriving under its not-so-new management. David, Raina, and their hand chosen team have been at it for five years now, long enough to be a viable indication of where the company is headed. I knew that you had some involvement with the company, but until now, I had not realized the extent. I don’t think they could have found anyone more qualified to form an allegiance with. I have no doubt that that will help sell Gallagher guitars and keep you in the business of playing a Gallagher for years to come. Thank you for the great review. I couldn’t be anymore pleased with my SG-50!😮

Sounds fantastic! I saw Doc and Merle Watson live at McCabe's guitar store in Santa Monica in 1973. I sat feet away from the stage, mesmerized by how great he was. In 1976 I ordered a Gallagher G71 Special from Mr. Gallagher himself. I still have the hand-typed letter he sent me regarding his current prices. My Gallagher is truly a magnificent guitar that sounds better than when I got it, and is one of my prized possessions.
@razzbuddy3 жыл бұрын
Haha..... I still have my typed letter too. They made a lefty Doc Watson model for me in 2002. So, he was still using that typewriter 25 years later. Unfortunately, for me that guitar is way better being a guitar than me being a guitar player.
@razzbuddy3 жыл бұрын
I should correct myself and say his son Don on that typewriter.

Received my DW Signature in 2005, and a letter from Don. Enjoyed visiting with Don’s mother, Miss Hazel throughout the ordering process.

Well I only visited the States once in 1973 and when I learned Doc Watson was playing in Bryn Mawr when I was in Philadelphia I had to go! It was well worth it of course but the revelation for me was hearing the interchange between Doc and Merle. A life time memory I will treasure.

Great Channel and what a picker you are! Bought my Doc Watson from Don in 2003 I believe. Changed out the tuners with Waverly Ivory and have been playing it about every day since then. Just love the guitar and I'll pass it on to my son who is a top notch picker as well. Really enjoy your channel. I've always been a fan of Doc and Merle. You are keeping their sound alive as well... Cheers...

My husband and I got to tour the facility where they make these guitars. I am a struggling beginner player but I was amazed at the sound and playability of these guitars. My husband would have bought me one if I really wanted it …. Which I did want one……but felt like it was too much money for a beginner player. Needless to say , I wish I would have let him buy me one !!! Anyway , great playing , great video.

I feel like a bit of a dumb ass but I didn't know much about Doc Watson until I heard you (and since then other pro pickers) speak of him and his son in such high regard. Well since then I've listen several hours of his music and watched some videos - Damn , his picking accuracy and fingers flying up & down the fret board ~ magic. Thanks for the review and even more for introducing me to another guitar hero 👍

Just found your videos, Doc Watson tribute concert and this one, you guys did a excellent job on the tribute concert, Doc would be proud, I been a Doc Watson fan for over 50 years and Merle his son also, two of the best. I bought a Gallagher G50 in 2006 one of the best guitars I have owned, like the one you are playing, they do ring like a bell, Gallagher Guitars 🎸 are some of the best guitars, craftsmanship is excellent, glad I found your videos, you did a excellent job, enjoyed the picking, looking forward to future videos, subscribed.
I own that model myself. Love it and will grow old with it.

I loved Doc. When I think of the times I saw him live and think of his genuine warmth and personality I get a little damp in the eyes. What a true original hero to guitar players the world over. The guitar you have is almost 100% sitka.

Lovely to hear this...I had the strange misfortune of acquiring a G-70 during the family transition, in 1993, and it really wasn't a guitar like what you are playing here. So happy to see that legacy well served...does indeed "ring like a bell!"

I heard from a reputable Luther that the necks on these guitars are not joined to the body correctly. And he removes all the necks and does work on them and reinstalls them in straight.
