Got the GT full-suspension bike. I like its i-Drive rear suspension. Very good work of suspension and almost no pedal feedback. Helps a lot to climb hills on hard terrain

The i-drive system works great. You won't really notice it unless your'e going through rough stuff. That where gt's suspension design shines. Especially in rock gardens. 2013 sensor 9r elite,

I have, and still ride in rough terrain the first generation I-drive it is 12 years old now, and what I notice most is how well it smoothes out the trail, it's a very comfy ride going slow, or fast. In response to one post here about braking forces stiffening up the suspension, The I-drive system actually has rear braking squat, meaning the suspension is still active during braking, and not locking out the rear shock. If you've riden one for a while you know what I mean.

All companies hype their suspension designs and claim to be better than the competition. All major designs work pretty well these days. They all deal with the same compromises in slightly different ways. GT's design is a perfectly legitimate way of addressing axle path, chain tension, bob, and bump absorption. It's pretty clever, actually.

I have a 2013 Fury team Carbon and I’m amazed at how I never lose a pedal from roots jumps or drops. I know it creaks but I really don’t see the old LTS system being better. It sees they went backwards in suspension tech with the LTS.

Also, i own a GT Force and am really very happy with the value that the bike represents but my major complaint is the squeaking i get from the pivots. i have to service it once every 3 months or after every couple of muddy rides to keep the squeak at bay. I'm a mechanic and can do all the work myself but i can imagine this would drive the average joe crazy and it certainly is annoying to me. If GT could design a way to better seal those bearings from the elements i'd have zero complaints.

one thing at the i-Drive suspension does not address is brake feedback. On any suspension design that doesn't have a pivot at the axel point, the suspensions travel is going to be affected by braking forces. The real world results of this is that the suspension stiffens up as the brake is applied which can suck when you're bombing through some narly rockgarden and need to scrub some speed. The only suspension designs that i have seen that do address this issue is ABP and DW's new Split Pivot.

the thing is I like gt maybe others don't like it... and first of all it depends on the racer not on the bike if he wins a race... for example Rachel Atherton... or aaron gwin... gwin won races on every single bike he rode until today... santa cruz, trek, yt... so... pls don't be hatters.. tastes are not discussed... I wont tell u to buy I but I did it so... I need to be happy with it not those who don't have one.. ride your specialized or santa cruz or wathever u wanna ride its your choice and say whatever you want I will still ride my gt fury

I switch from a Specialized Rockhopper Pro Disc '06 ( Single suspension ) to a GT Marathon Team Issue '09 and let me tell you: I don't feel any difference in the pedal efficiency, the pedaling is fast ! The only problem I found is: The "Flexi Bone" or "I-Forge Link" isn't strong enough and breaks after 200 miles ( it's easy to replace , you can even make it if you have the right tools ).Big but big issue: water bottle cage is located in a very dirty spot ( fixable too) so far so good

So am I right in thinking they've got rid of pedal feed back but the trade off is your pedals move forward and backwards below you?? That's gonna be like riding a horse right?? And wheel path.. By moving on an axis or vpp rather than the specialized system that's going to lengthen and shorten the wheel base making its turning speed faster and slower?? What about braking squat etc?? ..if in doubt buy a Santa Cruz!! ;0) Would still like a go on one mind.. Will keep my eye out!!

Haha, I thought that GT went out of business. I built my STS 1000 in 1999 with a boxxer and hope hydraulic disk brakes. The 321 DH mavic rims and high low flange hope hubs on 14 gauge straight spokes are the best wheel set that I've ever seen. My bike is made of milk jugs, lol it's a fat pig even with all the titanium parts. Those I drive bikes seem a little over rated, but the headset bearings are a good idea.

almost had me sold till i saw the rear brake and the single pivot travel. put a floating brake on there and it should be more complete.

other companies have been "slagging" ID for years. ....the vid is not full of lies....all the models are based on actual dimensions from the drawings of the competition.....I guess it just bothers people that GT stands up to all the BS that has been said about their technologhy ....BTW this technology wins WC DH.... But the bottom line is that if you do not like what is being said then don't ride a GT ..12,458 other people will.....

Oh and Gee Atherton only won his championships on a Fury with a IDrive. His bike is crap and can’t keep up with the other brands. Rachel mastered it though.

This promo vid is full of lies. They slag off other suspension designs to make their own look better. eg: they say that the wheel path for Meastro is vertical.....wrong. Meastro suspension makes the wheel retract in an arc and almost totally eliminates pedal feedback, bob and brake feedback and yes I do ride Meastro. It reflects very badly on a company when they have to slag others in order to sell their product. If the quality is that good let it speak for itself.
