GT Tequesta Restomod

That drive train combination is exactly what I want to do to my 93 Specialized. I use it on some country roads as well as gravel roads. Nothing too extreme or fast. I love the idea of the simple 1x7 for longevity and simple maintenance. Excellent video! I joke you are still enjoying your GT! 🙌

I've got a Tequesta in the stand right now. It was a mess. The drive side dropout was pinched so bad the axle would not slip in, so being steel I was not afraid of a little leverage with a pry bar. Next was to make sure the dropouts were parallel and then to true the derailleur hanger. Its in pieces now needing a good scrubbing. I like the idea of a 1X by, I think I will give it a try. And I've already decided to go with V brakes. Thanks for the video

sweet, very nice job and nice video :). I built a GT Timberline steel frame (that the previous owner modified for disk brakes) from 1998 into my travel bike which has proven to be just awesome. It may not be the lightest frame or the most "modern" bike. But it's such a nice ride with and without luggage and looks just awesome. The 90s GT frames are just very cool :)

I do like the feel of steel frame over aluminum for vibration, but aluminum would be great for responsiveness. Pros and Cons of both!

Recently restored a mid 80’s pre-triple triangle Backwoods. My favorite though is a restomod 92 Karakoram in tequila sunrise paint, 1x7 with bmx bars.

Nice build man, great vid. definitely like the black colour way. The tan walls look good on the black. I recently resto modded my GT backwoods on my channel. The GT triple triangle, there is nothing more iconic from the 90s.

Welcome back to your channel, there was a little pause. I assume a lot happened in between. Nice restoration and I like the shiny black of the frame compared with the lemon yellow of the fork. Very nice components chosen and therefore: nice rides with your boy and I subscribed for perhaps some more restoration videos in the future. Great video. I used to sell GT's in the 90s. I only have 3 but would like a few more. 99 zaskar XTR,98 Avalanche le XT, and 91 Karakoram to be built.

Hey have the same frame, with white industries eno hub profile cranks freewheel, its my daily my cousin actually got hit by a car and died on it. ! I had to wait to get it outta police property, anyway nice gt brother hope she serves you well

Hi Michael Any chance of a parts list? I'm new to bikes and my grandad has given me a beat up 1995 GT tempest, which is very similar to this. i don't even know where to start. The brakes are pretty shot, and changing gears makes some very unhealthy sounds and seems to slip a lot. I'd love to know the parts so can start restoring it, and use it to commute.

Lovely build! What tires did you put on? It's hard to find 26" gumwall tires these days. Schwalbe Nobby Nic's are quite expensive..
