My son bought me one of those Sears Magnum 6,000 and I want to refresh my memory a little bit thank you for the video
@sonnyblazer55042 жыл бұрын
You did a very understandable video for all of us who pay attention. My GT6000 (92) just stopped moving. Pulley with belt move but NOTHING from trans (6speed hi/lo) does nothing. Wheels do turn. I do have a second IDENTICAL machine that I know the trans works right. THANKS to you, I now know what I need to do. Now, am a NEW SUB for you. ANYONE with words of wisdom, PLEASE comment and THANK YOU ALL especially RCG RACING!!!

I miss my old GT6000. Mowed 2 acres with it for 21 years before the internals of the engine decided to separate from each other :(. They were tough machines.

Very instructive video. Could you do a video on draining and refilling the rear axle fluid? Thanks.

Thanks for posting. I just scored one of these mowers and your video was invaluable in figuring this thing out before I even start. I also have 2 Craftsman LT2000's and one I'm going to modify but I had a chance to pick up this 97 GT6000 for cheap with 21hp opposed twin. It's a great mower but I want to build this out to, your videos are a great help. Thanks.

I came across one of these at the junkyard today and it was a lot easier to get to it from underneath. Aka if the whole engine is already out just flip it over.

Awesome, didn't realize the rim specs. Wound up getting 5x4.5 to 5x5.5 adapter spacers for the Ford YT16 using the Hydro Gear 718-0241 from the White GT185. Shimming the alxes to fit the Ford LGT 5x4.5 hubs. Found the hubs have the same issue where that debossed region doesn't fit the I.D. of the adapter. Invested in a hole saw that will fit. Haven't gotten around to drilling out yet or even working on the YT's yet this season other than dollies to roll it around on. Not sure if you intended or what, though my plan was to try to use the trucks rims since have and amazingly the 22" rear tires level out the design when on the front axles... still haven't worked on the fit design mod yet since thinking will have to upgrade to a larger diameter axle shaft along with heavier duty steering gear box and linkages. Wishing this ELINT around me wasn't so corrupt and in malice and risky when I work on anything that can be made remotely dangerous.

Great info. That transaxle looks like what came with the $35 SS16. Didn't document since only got for the rototiller that came with. Guessing is a tough rear end. Thanks for sharing.

I can not get the hole saw comment out of my mind. That is pure brilliance to do to these aluminum ford rims to make them fit right. Much respect on the brain storm that one I will think on for sure.

@@RCGRacing Forgot to note the best cutting fluid I've found so far seems to be the new Tap Magic EP-Xtra, thanks to Project Farm. I've read other things like WD40 or Neatsfoot oil for aluminum and this Hackaday article noting how just Dykem, Glue sticks and sharpies help with cutting. Technically, Tap Magic makes a specific cutting fluid just for aluminum... though haven't used. hackaday.com/2018/07/20/sharpies-and-glue-sticks-fight-the-gummy-metal-machining-blues/

Been a tap magic fan for years. Old school WD40 used to work great the new stuff is junk. PB blaster and marvel mystery oil work in a pinch. I openly admit I have little to know knowledge when it comes to aluminum cutting and drilling so I will gladly read up on the info you posted tomorrow with Coffee.
@jafinch784 жыл бұрын
@@RCGRacing Yeah, this new stuff isn't the old triflouroethane for tapping and that stuff was all I ever knew to use for threading. I might be behind though and this new EP-Xtra oil amazes me how well performs.

I’ve got 1 of those tractors. Put a front end loader on it. Split trans and flipped the gears on the planet to lock in posi. I’ve move at least 15 yards of dirt with it so far. Has lots of other up grades to many to list. But anyway those transmissions are very tough. Had rebuild the mounts cause it twisted the trans up under it. I should make a video of it to break it down.

@@facetious_1 yes it has a planetary gears in the transaxle. I only flipped three of them and they will lock the sun gear gives you positive traction. This way you can always put it back without ruining the planetary gears
