GT7 - How DR (Driver Rating) Points are Calculated

Most comprehensive DR video on KZbin! I highly appreciate the time and effort it must have taken to produce this content. I”m new to Gran Turismo so I was clueless on how DR works. I just assumed to go from “D” to “A” I needed to get a hell of a lot quicker lol.

Awesome video Greddy! This is why it’s so darn hard to break thru the A+/A line in NA right now. Hardly any points for a top 5 and so easy to lost 1000 when you get punted in a short Race B or any other race. I keep getting stuck in that bubble.

Great video! It's frustrating that Sony/PD aren't more open about this info! I'd also like to see them score SR out of 100k too - I think it would be the best way to clean up dirty lobbies.

I do think it’s a really smart and effective system though. And proven so when you make an alt and quickly settle into the same lobbies as you did on the first. I really miss Kudosprime too! Loved having the data immediately. And the history. Was really helpful.

Nice work with Excel stuff thats a good visual to show how it all works.... 👍 There is now a way to find your ranking in lobby.... sort of... end of race during credits/miles there is a number on the driver helmet that translates to lobby rank. Noticed it in Nations this past weekend....

It does not say. It used to. In Gran Turismo Sport you could look it up on KudosPrime.com Now you have to guesstimate looking at their profile and the progress on the bar. But, that's how it works When you go in the lobby it will order you by DR. So, that should give you an idea of where you need to finish to increase your DR.

When you enter a GTWS lobby, it places you into the room in DR rank order. Then you qualify, then it orders you for the start of the race in the order you qualified. Your door number corresponds to your rank. For a daily race, it orders you by your time trial time. However, the door number on your car corresponds to your rank in that lobby. There are occasional alpha numeric issues on the order but it's fairly rare. In a nutshell, finish in the top half and you should continue to rank up. 😁

A very very good video. Thanks for this. I almost know most about it and even created a overview by myself in Facebook for example. But: in GT7 the lobbys are 16 player in Manufacturer Cup as in daily races. So in daily races the DR gain and loss is simply the same. If I get you right you said that daily races don’t count that much. But that’s not the fact, the count the same don’t they?

They are calculated the same, yes. What I meant was, back in GTS there were 20 people in a lobby, so the points pool was larger. So, more available points. It was easier to increase your DR with a good result. Also, GTWS races tend to have higher rewards when doing well because everyone in your lobby is of your rank. So, if you place well, you can get more points. But yes, the points count the same. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! 😎👊

There’s something that bothers me on how this calculation works. I’m an A+ driver with 91.500 DR points. I’ve raced in the final round of the Nations Cup, which means that i was driving in a top split lobby every time. Let’s say that my worst race was a 13th place as a result and let’s say that the DR points medium of the entire lobby is 85k The calculation in my case would be: DR gained: 80 - ((91500-85000)/500)= 67, which multiplied by 3 (the cars behind me) equals 201 points DR lost: 80 + ((91500-85000)/500) = 93, which multiplied by 12 (the cars in front of me) is equal to 1116 points. So, if i subtract the points lost to the points that i gained (201 - 1116), it would be a total of 915 points lost. If this calculation is correct, though, I’m wondering why according to the game home page and the KudosPrime’s calculator i’m still stuck at 91500 DR points, almost as i’ve never raced that round. I should’ve had a significant drop. After that I’ve completed another top split lobby and got an 11th place. Still a bad result, which could’ve led me to another massive drop in DR points, but nothing happened. If we’re excluding a bug in the game, please let me know if my calculations above are correct P.S.: the results above will be surely non accurate, cause i was calculating a medium of DR points of all 16 people in the lobby. But still we’re talking about a top split lobby, so my mediums was based on the fact that the other guys have a slightly better DR rating, or a slightly less rating.

The problem is, you really don't know what the DR of the other drivers are. Youd have to check each one. I've been in the top split and I'm only like 65000 or so. But yes, you should lose about 900 DR. In the Special Stage Route X Nations Race, there was no SR or DR changes in THAT race. I thought DR was affected in this Daytona race, but I could be wrong.

@@geauxgreddy absolutely yes, I should’ve check if i wanted to do a right calculation. That’s why i wrote a P.S., causa in a normal lobby i would’ve lost a lot of points. I’ve never looked in the info section to check if the result of the race could’ve changed DR/SR points, but at the end of each race i saw the new arrow up/down system working (even though it is bugged af). I guess that in the end it is very fine to me. I didn’t lost points, which means that I didn’t lost hours invested to grind, and i came to a realization that my profile is more than enough to race against the very top notched players on GT7 (maybe not the world tourer, but still very fast people, at least in Europe). And also i think it is almost pointless spending more ours to grind because, if these calculations that you provided are correct, it will be a lot harder to me to grind, which means that it would be more riskier to lose them. So i think i’ll stop here with this main account and leave it for GT Championship and go on with a 2nd one. We can't, they haven't allowed those to be read by external sources. Closest we can get is to upload your profile screenshot pic into Kudos and it'll read the progress bar and give you a number accurate vy +/- 500.

I was familiar with the formula since GTS but I hadn’t picked up on the mechanism in it where you can actually gain DR even if someone beats you. And I assume likewise if someone really lower than you beats you.

Very well done video. The DR appears broken with spec2 despite the claimed fix. I had 2 races in a row with 5 positions gained and 1 with 2 positions gained. All 3 clean races and I am getting a red down arrow everytime..the bar appears to be dropping ..wtf????

The graphic is broken that u see at the end of the race, but the DR still works correctly in the background.

Great video - does the DR calculate for cars / players that have quit the race and essentially finished as a DNF? Or is only for players left in the lobby at the end of race?

Solely online. And sometimes daily race A will not affect your DR so check the details before entering ✌️

You can take a screenshot in HD using the share button in your controller, transfer it using a usb stick or save it to your phone using the PSN app. Then go to www.kudosprime.com and upload it there. I have a video on it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmLScnSbmthofaMsi=24CmtBDGmLPRxYQF That'll give you the numerical value. To get to B you have to make it to 10,000 DR points. Be sure to stay SR S though, dropping your SR can prevent you from being promoted. Aim to finish in the top 5 to keep climbing. It can take awhile especially with only 16 cars and being new to the game. If the line is half way and youre C, you are at about 7500 DR points. DR- D = 0 - 4000 DR- C = 4000 - 9.999 DR- B = 10,000 - 29,999 DR- A = 30,000 - 49,999 DR- A+ = 50,000 - 100,000

You have to create an account then select GT7 then select Sport Tracker using the upper left dropdown menu. There you can upload the screen shot to get the numerical DR.

It used to be easy, you just pulled up Kudosprime.com. You could see your progress after each race and how many points you needed to the next level. Very annoying that they didnt make that available for GT7.

They used to give you a door number. Honestly not 100% positive but it looks like where you are positioned in the opening of the lobby for a gtws race. Edit: see the other comment. Look for the number on the helmet.

I am a top DR B driver and I am getting lobbies mixed with DR B and DR A. I have the impression that DR A cars are faster, I am sure DR A drivers are faster, but some situations such as straight lines and parts of the track where there is no way the other car could be that faster than me. I am so pissed with that. Did you or anyone ever noticed something similar to what I am describing?

Exiting corners and earlier on the gas and shifting. Sometimes it's minimal, but on a straight they slowly pull away from you in the same car because they reach the 200mph earlier, while you're still at 198mph

Hi, I'm ¾ A+, full S rank, when I start dailies races, they keep putting me in A/S lobby. I start first, finish first with almost 15s ahead but my DR drops. Do you know why? I did 5 races, and 5 times in A/S lobby, that's boring as hell

Only thing I can think of is no other A+ drivers are entering at the time you are. Especially if your SR is 100% S. Also, they split dailies between ps4 and Ps5 players so it cuts the pool in half. Not sure which system youre on or what. Odd that you're only getting A drivers.
