Even without the DLCs, it's such a shame that GTA 5 was much bigger in the beta version than it is now. Good radio songs that were cut, friend activities and interiors were pretty much cut down in size, and even horses would've been a great addition.

Most certainly. One thing remains though, Rockstar would milk tf out of it for sure. My major concern is why all the sudden Rockstar is making it more difficult to protect yourself online. I regularly used vpn in both GTAO and RDO but lately it seems using vpn or even having anti-virus running is a no-no in Rockstar's eyes. But if someone come to play to simply mess with other people or ip attack them, rest assure nothing will be of inconvienience to them.

As a person who always played these games from GTA San Andreas to GTA IV to GTA V, it saddens me that all of these good ideas were eventually just mothballed in spite of getting more money on Rockstars part. I don't get how the game is still on rank 6 of the most played games on steam. I can sum this up in a couple of sentences: Rockstar devs were unprepared for how popular the GTA Online portion of the game was going to be. They decided to incorporate ALL of the story mode DLC into GTA Online since that was where the player base was focused. Not only that but the reason why GTA VI has taken so long in my opinion is because they incorporated many of the ideas meant for THAT game into GTA Online.

true. as the cayo perico update is what’s left of the initial gta 6 prototype. a few reliable leakers have leaked information about the rough draft of the first storyboard before Dan Houser left and caused the reboot of 6. it involved columbia, drug lords, and was supposedly going to take place in the 90s. the theme of cayo, on top of all of the vehicles released with the update, line up perfectly with this information. instead of a more “Narcos” inspired story, we’re now getting the Bonnie and Clyde re-write, due to gta v’s heist successes.

RDR2 is one of the biggest tragedies in this area. The current map size is at most only 1/2 of what it was supposed to be, and it was changed VERY late in production -- to the point where huge areas beyond the bounds of the map and in inaccessible areas of the map itself are completely finished with terrain, foliage, animal spawns, roads, campsites, and even points of interest like avalanche sites, frozen waterfalls, and volcanic remnants. Leaked maps from early development show how much bigger it was supposed to be -- there's even a whole missing town in the completed game. Originally the entirety of Guarma seemed like it was supposed to be accessible. Mexico's terrain is totally finished in RDR2 graphics, and its towns and locations are present in a degenerated unfinished state. over 8 hours of content were cut from story mode. what a shame

Michael being an traitor with an bad family, Franklin that was supposed to be an resemblance of Carl Johnson, and Trevor Philips that is nothing but an violent guy, with no character development at all. Dude they killed Johnny Klebits from GTA 4 just to make Trevor look cool, they changed Johnny's character just to do that for no reason. GTA 4 have 3 separated stories, wich gave the devs the chance to develop their character properly, with an serious story, GTA 5 doesn't take it serious in no moment at all, it is an game with an AWSOME potential, the Beta version of this game was better than it's final product, but the developers took this opportunity, and threw it on the garbage can, since they could make money using the GTA online money grind system, by making the players make an terribly low amount of money by grind (this if not having to deal with toxic disposable people), and making them spend real money to get shark cards. This is the word that define GTA 5, "Potential", but never "best game".

In an alternate timeline, GTAO somehow didn't do so well due to how bad the servers ran on launch prompting Rockstar to shut it down and work on (and eventually release) the SP DLC.

wouldve been horrible. Single player content, people forget and move on. Online is where all the player retention is at. You'd play call of duty way more than you'd play God of War. Thats just how it is. Im a little disappointed we didn't get more DLCs but at the same time, why fret over something that you never had or "could've had?" At the end of the day, its just ideas thrown in the hat. I could've been underwhelming. Focusing on GTA Online was the better move financially since they making billions off of it, and player retention is high. Also in the gaming industry, majority of the money goes into reinvestments for future titles. How else do you think we got RDR2 and now GTA 6? Most of that money going towards the production of future games. Ultimately the GTA 5 single player DLC was a small sacrifice for a bigger win and like rockstar said, not everything is possible.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The final update for GTA online should be an alien invasion. It's been hinting at it for so many years. Anything else seems like it'll be a disappointment.

I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one that felt underwhelmed by GTA V back in 2013. To say that back then feels like to me is something not many people did. I love GTA IV and its DLC.

Really insightful and exceptionally presented video, props to all involved. Interestingly Leslie started up another company called RocketBoy and has his own Open-World game coming out soon, oh ye and a lot of those staff that left Rockstar joined him. Apparently, the working conditions at Rockstar were terrible and harassment was rampant.

Vanilla GTA V Online is extensively more boring than anything you can do in SP.

Online is just such a cash grab, I still haven't played any of the Franklin stuff cuz I don't understand it and I just wanted to play DLC's in single player mode, not forced to be online and having to deal with how expensive things are in online.
