The yellow lines aren't making you go faster or slower, they just fill up your yellow meter next to your health so you can be ready to jump when you need to because when you use the jump it has to recharge and the yellow line fills it up all the way, same happens with the rocket voltic races which is why the boost lasts longer since it fills back up before it gets drained.

The yellow thing don't speed you up nor slow you down they re-fill the jump ability so just in case your car doesn't have the jump ability you can jump.

When you hit the yellow lines it insta charges your jump boost. Your jump boost has a recharge time and when its charged you can see it at the bottom right in an yellow line next to your health bar and the blue bar next to your halth
