Yeah man, definitely a crappy situation but you can still kinda drive around it in races. The relative speed difference pre and post-nerf is terrible regardless.

They're prob discussing with their team that we'll just add a two month trial for gta 6 physics. Each time we release a new update we'll then eventually nerf the features just to give our audience a taste of what's stored for gta 6. Remember since gta 5 and rdr2 has always been there testing grounds for gta 6. Now, there testing grounds we'll be each of the latest game that releases when they work on another project U can release the sauce, but u can't keep the sauce 🤐

Nah the cop cars are suspiciously light, hit a street car with a regular car you own and then try the Stanier and you’ll see what I mean. It’s got speed but it lacks power to move vehicles.

Thank God the tuners cars have since been fixed, here's hoping Rockstar just updates the customization for the drift tuning cars. They should do away with these half-assed fixes and just let us upgrade the damn cars like normal lol

Ok this makes sense ever since the snow update ive been having harder times linking the drift mode tracks and i wondered why. Idk when they changed this, but ive been avoiding drifting since then. Might try it out in freemode when i do it again

The only advantage of buying your own to use in races is to be able to upgrade the suspension and armor, both of which are helpful but won't give you a huge competitive edge. Personal preference now, really.

Nahh bro you don't binge enough initial d and mf ghost is what I hear... Rockstar loves them some slidin 😂 Buntas Fujiwara tuned takumi's 86 loose as to get a faster but less stable drift and for longer drifts, the four wheel drift, turn into the corner​ harder than usual, countersteer just enough to lock it into a comfortable angle, then just use throttle, also put your earphones into the controller, with the correct side matching because sound plays a big part, you can hear traffic, your tires changing surface and friction, shooters closing in, police, etc. Also try first person after you watch some go pro drifting vids try to get your first person lap times to match your third person, this part I haven't even done yet, but this is definitely something to put in the air, for it must be, someone has to be keiichi tsuchiya level @@StevieWunderKid

I don't know what the hell is going on at Rockstar but it seems their goal is to make players as miserable as possible. It really feels as though they're deliberately trying to see how much of this game they can ruin so that when gta6 comes out, enough players will drop GTA5 so the devs feel they can justify shutting the servers down, and I'd be willing to bet they wont go through the time or effort to move everything from GTAO to the Story mode so the last 10 years of GTAO don't just vanish into thin air when Rockstar eventually abandons GTAO the way they abandoned RDRO

To all of us drifters/car guys this does seem pretty crappy, but remember that this whole system was fundamentally "bugged" and this is Rockstar's attempt at fixing it. I wouldn't call this specific event them trying to deliberately make the game worse for us, but there's plenty of other way more egregious examples where they've done exactly that (i.e. removing 200 cars from the websites). I just would've preferred Rockstar to have released the drift tuning upgrade fully sorted out so there wasn't this stupid back-and-forth when they attempt to fix something they didn't take the time to develop.

Yup, in races my cars felt way slower. That, and you can no longer hear the blow-off valve from the turbo upgrade when you're in a race, although you can in freemode.

im pretty sure it still applies to freemode. There are sweeper turns the rx7 could handle before and now its coming up short as if its running out of steam. Like routes we used to tandem for hours so our lines were consistent

This video's a bit older, I made it when the nerf was only partially in place. With the release of the BDB DLC, upgrades were nerfed in freemode too.

I understand that it evens the playing field but if they do it for drift races then why dont they do it with all other races? To me it makes better sense to have variable upgrades to customise it to your liking and gives more reason for other players to unlock more upgrades

I agree. On some cars you may even be in disadvantage with modified car, because all the body moda, wheels, neons, height of your spoiler, changes your car physics and how it feels. So you have tested your car in freeroam, car is perfect and now you enter a race and all the careful center of gravity shifting has became useless, because car lacks power to dance around it.... All for what, so I would need 2 of the same car for freeroam and races?

if these times are correct, would u say the yosemite and jester rr are the worst? the others are pretty close in lap time. will u do more thorough lap time comparisons in the future?

The times shown aren't lap times, just straight line drag runs to get relative power differences. For drifting, that isn't the only indicator of how good a drift car is - other factors like handling, steering angle, weight, etc. all play into that. I won't do any more lap time comparisons in the future unless it's out of necessity like it was here. For more detailed track tests, you're better off checking out Broughy1322's channel.

Another question in a video you said that the Bravado Buffalo was a drift car and when I did everything and lowered the suspension it didn't drift

It'll take quite a bit of finesse to drift the Buffalo as I explained in that video. Knowing the mid-drive speed boost is key to properly linking drifts together in that car.

Before the new drift physics, we definitely had a particular setup to make cars driftable in the game for the majority of the viable ones you have reviewed and put under your expert scrutiny . So it will be interesting if we all geeked out and found out what mods we can do to get the most out of the nerf.

Nah, you can't add any power mods after drift tuning is equipped. Nowadays it doesn't really matter either, since upgrades have been mostly nerfed across the board.
