as a Florida man i can tell you that there are more references in the trailer. My favorite one is the police bodycam parody of the axon body cams. Fun fact Florida has a law called the 'sunshine law' where almost all court case information is made public, so that's why we have so many body cam footages coming out of Florida and so many Florida man stories

As a Native Floridian I think Rockstar did a great job. Our state is truly a melting pot and you never know what you’re going to get. Especially the further south you go. I could do an entire history lesson on why Florida is the way it is, but who cares. I’m just praying that the game play is up to par with the graphics.

6:10 the specific island is Biscayne Island which is the one closest to the mainland, and it's pretty spot on. A nearly identical little hut to the right of the toll booth, tennis court right next to the booth, parking structure just in front (west) of the tennis court and the same staired building a ways up on the right of the road.

For real life, there isn't much you can do (unless you want to exchange a few minutes of thrill for jailtime) In the game, you can speed through the tolls. You will probably get 1 star wated level at best that gets removed once you go too far.

6:10 In the back ground of that image timestamp, there’s a pair of condos with blue and green lit up tops, those are the blue and green diamond condominiums, more real condos from Miami Beach. Another one that you could see on the trailer at that same frame in the back left is the Akoya condo, with its multi triangle topper.

I'm native to miami and also got it confused with Key Biscayne but it's not as Key Biscayne has a light house at the tip of the island and is further south of Miami Beach than these islands in the trailer. That's actually the Venetian isles look them up on Google maps they look identical to the ones in the trailer.

As a man from Florida, I can confirm it's this crazy down there and I have stories. My mom caught an alligator on her fishing pole when she was 8. I caught one when I was 13. When I was 6, I watched my next door neighbor chase an alligator out from under another neighbors car. I once walked through my back yard and found a 2 foot gator just chilling. So that's enough about gators. Wait, one more, no two more. When I was 15 I saw a, and I shit you not, 9 foot gator walking though the field behind my house. It was one of the biggest I ever saw in the wild. The last gator story, I was fishing on a bridge in Myakka state park. I caught a decent size alligator gar (it's a fish, not a gator). Well this 7 footer come swimming up, and he see's me with this thing. He stands out of the water mouth wide open. He's on his tail, and he wants the gar. I'm not big on feeding gators, so I toss the gar off to the side. He dives and the splash is so big, it got water on me. The water was atleast 6 feet below the bridge. Ok so besides gators, I got some good ones. One while camping at this place called Fisheating Creek, cops got called on another campsite. They were just trying to give them a citation for harassing another camper, but it escalated into an arrest. A young woman, maybe 20, resisted arrest and got tased. Her boyfriend didn't like this and tried to jump the cop, and he got tased. He started screaming, "THEY TASED HER!! THE NAZIS TASED HER!!" He was put into the back of the squad car, and began kicking the window out. So he was tased again and put in full restraints. Don't do drugs kids. I used to work landscaping down in Punta Gorda on the Isles. It was a pretty fun job, and I met alot of wealthy eccentric folks. Old ladies were always coming on to me. A friend of mine who lived in there had neighbors who might have been actual nazis. They were German, and when they found out his family were Jewish immigrants from Poland, they flipped out. Told them that if they or anyone working for them set foot on their property, they were going to have them thrown in prison. I thought it was a joke, but I once set a single foot on their side of the property line and cops were called. Once at his house, I was trimming a hedge, and two snakes doing a mating dance fell out of a tree no more than two feet from me. I once picked up a handful of really small baby snakes while cleaning up a planter. One time I was payed with an antique sword, and while I was walking to my car, some 10 year old wanna be gangster rode up to me on my bike talking tough and says, "Hey turn around." I turned around with this sword in my hands lol. When my wife and I were engaged, she flew to Florida to meet my family. Our flight got in late, and we drove home around midnight. A chick wearing white booty shorts and bikini top comes riding by at 100mph. On what looked like a $100k, skeletonized street bike. It was white, had blue neon all over, and car tires. That was my wife's first experience of Florida. My dad is Florida Man, but I don't talk about him much. I found some of my long lost siblings from DNA testing recently though, so that's cool.

What noone seems to think about is that if the map is that large, Rockstar probably included Florida's west coast which consists of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples to name a few places. Some of these screen shots may be from there. Totally guessing here, but it would make sense. Being part of the team that scouts locations for GTA games has got to be one of the best jobs in the world, also possibly a very dangerous one as well.

Great video. I'm not sure most people in the US think Florida is quite real either. But one minor point. That bridge you mentioned isn't under construction. It's an old bridge that was replaced and they just left the old one. That's part of a road called the Overseas Highway, aka US Highway 1. Pretty well known, even has a Wikipedia page. The original bridges were actually rail bridges made in the early 1900's (finished in 1912), later converted to road bridges, then replaced in the 1980's. When they built the new bridges, they mostly just left the old ones. Some parts are still accessible by the public and are now a public trail. Other parts were completely disconnected and are now dangerous to go on. But, if you ever get a chance to drive it, you should. The drive from Miami to Key West is really beautiful and unique, as is Key West. Takes about 3 hours each way, but no tolls.

I live in Naples, Florida, which is on the southwest coast. I go to Miami all the time, and I was fascinated with the level of detail in every shot. Regarding the ‘Florida man’ and “Karens” well…yup, all those crazy stories happen quite often specially in trailer parks and low income areas. You can add the shot where Lucia is in the convertible. The arena on the left is a real place as well, is the Kaseya Center. You can see it when you go back inland from Miami Beach.

Real Florida Man man here, born and raised for 40 years... and yes this was a pretty accurate summary of an average day in the Sunshine State. I can tell you that most of the naked loons running around are people from out of state who cracked under the heat and humidity. If it's a dude running around wrangling gators or has a pet gator, normally a local. Vice city was always my favorite GTA, and I am so pumped to be able to play a map with my hometown.

I love the fact that GTA V's biggest difference with LA is how over the top it is, but as a lifelife LA'in since before GTA Vs release, it seems it was less of an exaggeration and more of a vision of the future xD, I mean seriously, 0 dollar bail for serious crimes (which no one every pays), Heli chases and cars literally burning in the street outside my old school due to a domestic dispute, LA is wild man (I have so many stories that I cannot even share here, but trust me there's no shortage). 6:08 - this island is 100% a recreation of the Venetian Causeway which connects Miami Beach to Miami through the Venetian Islands. It’s the only access point to Miami Beach that has a toll stand. Also, the way how the lanes shrink down look almost exactly like the real thing! Looking at it closely, the view that is being shown here is an eastward view towards Miami Beach, meaning the skyline closer to the top is of Vice Beach! One big thing that gives it away is the tennis court to the left of the tollbooth, which is actually there IRL and the building on the right which is almost the same as IRL - 1000 Venetian!

I live in miami. This was 100% accurate. The motor bikes are a common occurrence. Every MLK weekend they come out and storm the city. They can be seen year round though. They distrupt traffic and are even on interstate highways. The car takeovers are very common as well. What I do want to see is extreme road rage as this is also very common in miami because the people are insane and the traffic is hell ish

Carl Hiaasen always said that people usually guessed wrong about which events in his novels set in Florida were based on real events and which he made up; in general, the ones he made up were less outrageous. He was a writer for the Miami Herald. I highly recommend reading most of the novels in order starting with Tourist Season and then Double Whammy. Yes, the novel Strip Tease was the basis for the bad movie with Demi Moore, but the novel is actually good. I won't be surprised if some of his stuff shows up in the game.
