I like both visually in my own way, but this brown tone on the ground at night that highlights ground from water looks somehow unnatural when viewed from above (4:48). It feels like some kind of minor graphic artifact, although in this way, as I understand it, they wanted to depict something like light pollution. The original here looks more “cinematic” with that greenish-blue tint, but still appears to be more natural.

they might be working on the shadows still, I haven't followed development too closely. afaik icenhancer 4 was not released to the public, yet. They improved rendering in the distance and it's performance a lot (no stuttering, buttersmooth)

Oh man, I was considering this even with the less detailed shadows, but I think the warmer looking nights just took too much away for me. I do want less gray, but none doesn't make it feel like IV.

I modded my GTA 4 alot recently 😂 All with custom mods than a mod pack and it looks pretty awesome but next time, I don’t want to download any ENB mod because it takes away the whole dark atmosphere of GTA 4

3:17 The modded shadows are actually more realistic. The mesh pattern would only be visible if the sun were the size of a pinhole.

Now with this mod this is what I call a "remaster". I have this plus first person mod installed on my PC game and that is also something I would want from a GTA IV remaster if Rockstar Games were to make one is give us the option to play the game in first person.

GTA 4 has aged so well. The details, animations, effects, the believable city and story. Even though it's "only" 4 years younger than GTA SA, it's a completely different level. I myself play GTA 4 with Fusion Fix. It looks fantastic for a 2008 game. GTA 4 is love.

Vanilla somehow look better but I prefer it to have iCehancer car reflection, wet road look, and the fog. If only we can combine both

In current situation the graphics mod is useless because it doesn't support the complete edition, i.e. it won't work with EFLC and it isn't compatible with Fusion Fix.

The iCEnhancer fog looks too dense. Traffic should "clear" the street levels as cars move to and fro, resulting in fog "settling" above traffic level. Denser fog in flight makes sense, but even in the shown clip of the helicopter, it looks a little goofy since it's practically just a white screen. Regarding rain, maybe it's just video compression, but the iCEnhancer rain drops look damn near invisible. Like, I can't even see it in half the clips you've shown. I'm torn on the lighting. On one hand, it looks more "realistic", even if a little washed out looking on characters (and Niko looks pretty pink), and I can appreciate that. On the other hand, the original lighting, while stylized, establishes a mood and tone that grounds the world in a specific time and place, adding to the game's distinct visual style. As I write this and think on it, the overhauled lighting reminds me of the generic "UE5" lighting so many modern games have nowadays. In that final lighting comparison, the original lighting absolutely looks more aesthetically pleasing than the new system. I 100% agree with your assessment of the shadows. I kinda like the warmer tone at night that iCEnhancer adds, but I think it's too strong. I'd be curious to see what a 50/50 mix of the original and iCEhanced night lighting looks like. The change in distant fog destroys the sense of scale of the city. Original is totally better in this regard. Water reflections look sharper with iCEnhancer, but the brighter sun reflection is an improvement. Honestly, it's kinda difficult to really compare the waters since other aspects such as the lighting and fog have such an effect on it's appearance. I could go either way on the water, I guess. Sun reflection and less pixelated reflections on vehicles is an improvement with iCEnhancer. Can't really say too much about this without more comparisons, though. My concern is the new reflections being too powerful, making every car look like a polished and waxed show piece. The improved appearance of details on Niko's face is nice, but as mentioned above, he looks pink, and washed out/lacking in contrast. Ultimately, none of this matter because my computer does not like ENBs and they kill performance.

Not really fair comparing to the default PC version. It’s broken at missing alot of effects that the console versions had, like the proper rain reflections and so much more. These can be brought back with mods like fusionfix

this reminds me of Nvidia comparing portal rtx to the DirectX 8 Version lol. they made the mistake to base the rtx mod on the inferior DirectX version. high quality graphics where always in the OpenGL version

as a true son of this game I can safely say any mods looking like this are dogshit, the only thing that looks decent is the fog and that is about all, GTA 4 doesnt even feel like GTA 4 at this point, I do not underestimate the creators of the mod in any way.

All these improvements don't make sense without Anti-aliasing that GTA 4 doesn't support by default. For this reason, adding extra high-quality textures and effects to the game only make it worse. My advice, if you want to get any pleasure from playing GTA4, you have to make the picture less detailed by turning off Definition parameter in the graphics settings. And also turn on at least FXAA in Nvidia control panel

I was spoken to passive aggressively and rudely by the mods developers just for asking for help. I was told the bugs and glitches I was experiencing were "features" of the mod. Then, I woke up the next day banned from the discord. Incredibly Immature.
