Why do these recent gta mod developers think they're god's gift to programming? I've been working as a developer for 15 years and I've never seen any of my colleagues blame users for a bug happening. Not to be elitist or gatekeeping but they need a reality check And no I don't mean all of them but a fair few of them lately who can't take criticism

I mean they doing it for free and on their free time so i can imagine they have to deal with work, chores and also listening to criticism and while trying to help ppl install their mod. It's one thing to work as a programmer for money for 15 years but doing a mod on ur free time for free and for everyone's entertainment is completely different story. Not to mention how horribly "easy" it is to make a mod for a game that's 20 yrs old and wasn't planned to be running on a new PCs

@@tumypok1011 He claimed there were 15 complaints overall out of 2000 downloads, implying there weren't a lot. No one cares if they don't have time to work on it, there's no obligation. I'm pretty sure if he just said "sorry I have studying to do, maybe another modder can help", ben wouldn't mind. It was the fact he ghosted and then called ben a liar. Didn't say it was easy but seeing as you're going there, there is enough code out there that he can copy which is just "add props to X place" and "change NPC's guns", which was pretty much all of the missions. You're pretty much replying as childish as the mod developer was. Calling someone a liar is pretty low and if someone can't take a single bit of criticism, modding isn't for them. Nor is any project.

@@AnthonyShuker I'm not really on the devs side nor Ben's because Ben's criticism is literally crying over silly things like "Oh just remove vanilla thing" or "Average player supposed to get through missions first try". Like did average player get through all of the vanilla missions first try? Doubt that. Dev's reaction was really like he wasn't interested in improving the mod. Maybe it's just a defensive reaction, cus let's be honest Ben's critic is kinda Karen-like. But still it's wrong to just say "HOW DARE THEY MAKE A MOD BECAUSE THEY LOVE THIS GAME. IT'S SHITTY ONE AND IT HAS NO RIGHT TO BE ON THE INTERNET". Like duhh most of the time it's just one person working on their free time and wih basic knowledge of the game script. Also ur point is like "strimmer right cus he has viewers on his side". Dev did tried to help and maybe didn't want to say "I don't know" cus it would look like hes incompetent. Most ppl won't say "I don't know" just to not look incompetent.

Dev called him a liar and acted like a child in response to everything. He shouldn't worry if he looks incompetent, if he does that proves my point about people like him thinking they're god's gift. They need to be humbled, it's a huge part of growing. Especially with programming. No shit Ben was going to be aggressive and hyperbolic after being called a liar.

The olda GTA trilogy is hard is kind of a nostalgia thing plus whatever shortcomings the console versions had (like bad aiming). All the "hard" missions are hard beacuse we couldnt beat them at 10 years old but would probably breeze through them now. I just play for fun (selecting easy difficulty for newer games) but even I could do most missions first try when I played thorugh the game a few weeks ago. Sure, there are some harder missions (I really hate Freefall in particular) and the game can always screw you over by flipping your car on a small obstacle or characters dying due to bad AI. This is not to belittle the mod, but if the sole purpose is to make it hard (and it's advertised for speedrunners who have way more skill than a casual player) then make it hard.

Well, lol, thats because he doesn't try to reason with players. Or he was in a bad mood and couldn't stand the constant roast. He didn't get that Ben wanted to do a funny stream, not ruin him. Throwing his work because of a polite opinion by one streamer who doesn't like it, i don't support that.

I do genuinely think that Hardlined sometimes does things better than this mod, at least Hardlined makes an attempt to be creative, it's bullshit and uninteresting but at least it had amazing concepts and ideas it just executed insanely poorly. This mod mostly just arms enemies with stronger guns. Shame.

Imagine getting removed or blocked after trouble shooting. That's an ASTONISHING START, I'm smelling Hardlined levels of bullshit with this one. EDIT: Yep, this aged well - Drive-Thru is the first bullshit mission. Non-headshotable enemies. Classic DYOM bullshit. EDIT 2: WOW, I Just saw the 4 stars and isntant boat load of cops in Drive By. Mostly non-headshotaable enemies, they carry AK's..and 4 stars. Tightened-reas puts 3 stars and is fair. And the modder claimed to have the mod played in OHKO. AND claims Ben is the one disingenuous. Yep, Called it, Hardlined 2.0. And we got drama. Not gonna update this post any further, enjoy the popcorn everyone.

The point of Non-headshotable enemies is to give enemies equal fighting chance. If that's nonsense for you, do you think it's also nonsense if a DYOM objective has you kill 8 headshotable enemies in front of you but they have 100 accuracy and always chase you non-stop, also the object cover on your right can barely protect you?

1:18:09 - I got out of the car the first time I played this mission on the PS2. The developer is wrong, a casual player doesn't neccessarily follow the optimal path in a mission because the game lets you play sub-optimally and as long as you still follow the vague mission rules, it accomodates it. And if a mission was smacking me down becasue the car doesn't have enough health to survive the 'optimal' route with regular play, I'd probably adapt by getting out of the bucket ass coar and shooting them on foot, which would then spawn the police.

This just makes me appreciate Hardlined more. That had it's own flaws and would need a major overhaul but at least it had a ton of interesting and unique ideas. This I could beat without any issues (unless later parts are much harder) and I'm not that great (I can 100% SA without issues casually and that's about it). Some of these changes would impact a casual playthorugh even less (like all the crap in the alleyways).

I agree with Ben sometimes and disagree with him sometimes, but one thing is certain: It seems like nowadays every single comment that doesn't fit in the hugbox is labelled as "toxic". Trying to live in an environment of nothing but positivity and encouragement just makes you fragile and vulnerable. Being able to handle criticism, whether fair or unfair, is a sign of health.

What's with modders using themselves as proof that the mods can be consistently beaten? That's the bare minimum. They MADE the mod. The only thing that could be worse is if they COULDN'T beat a mission that they designed. Edit: Bro made a mod and didn't want to bother fixing issues with it. Shoulda just made a DYOM mission pack then 😂😂😂 Edit 2: omg this is even worse, I bet 80% of the dev time was manually placing the props and changing NPCs weapons. This mod isn't hard, just slightly incovenient.

From what i heard in this comment section the dev made a message on gtafourms that he gave up hate the community and is going to make a final update to the mod. So no he did not handle it well if that's true

Too late, dev already posted on GTAForums saying he's done with the community and that this is the final version, expressing that the community is toxic, antagonizing, and overly negative even on "good" things. Dev seemed pretty egohurt on his latest ttv vod by the "toxic" "rage clickbait" "entitled" "douchebag" Eben interaction. Yet another case of a very sensitive god complex perfect game dev that when met with valid player criticism/feedback on his work, fails to even try understanding the player's POV, rejects feedback and instead takes an immediate defensive stance in chat, letting negative remarks made on his mod affect him emotionally... and ofc the mistake of continuing to do this in front of a sizeable audience such as Eben's (+ the weight his opinions hold) rather than cutting his losses early and maturely discussing everything privately in DMs as offered. It's a shame, one interaction not going his way and within 24hrs decides to give up on everything he's worked hard for.

@@sillyashie To be fair it's never too late, he can always get back to it, apologize properly for his behaviour and pick up from there. It's indeed a shame and quite childish to act in such a way, especially in the stream, it made me quite unconfortable even. I've seen his post on GTA Forums and i do think it's a hasty and dumb decision, probably fueled by anger but i still think it isn't too late, it's his mod, he can always pick it up and turn the situation around. The only point where i raised an eye brow is him saying that he's under personal attacks, this is quite concerning.

Aside from the argument a third of a way through the vid, this mod could be solid if the changes were communicated to you in the mission. Most of the time you aren't told what's been changed like in cesar vialpando or drive by for example. Even hardlined told you more it seems

The only way I know how to fix 'the game not starting after resolution screen in limitadjuster' is to choose a different resolution, some of them dont work for me (sadly no SA in 4k) and some of them do. And if this whole fallout started because of this... my oh my

I like how Crazy4Games plays this and loves it, then Ben plays it and justs cries at everything, which I kinda like it tbh, it's really funny watching him rage. But even me that I'm not an speed runner or GTA pro player could reach Las Venturas without problems even adding mods like PedSkills, recoil mod to enhance the experience, I just stopped playing because I wanted to play the new version. Such a shame the creator gave up and to be fair, he indeed tried to help Ben, however, he couldn't find a solution to his last problem. It is what it is.

I still agree that the dev response was questionable at best, if he had apologized in chat, and instead just worked with ben to get suggestions and advices on how to improve the mod, something that ben would easily do, the situation would've been incredibly different. anyone that knows ben knows he snaps at stuff easily, which is part of the fun tbf, the bit of him going mental was hilarious

The story is about Rockstar making interesting basis for serious stories: Franklin fucking people over to get a better life, Michael being addicted to life of crime, Trevor being so mentally ill he can't even get on well with other criminals - but then it all goes to shit and becomes a comedy about robbing banks.
