Except this is great for me. I am having alot of fun with trilogy. I am saying from my experience playing hundreds of hours of both PS2 and OG PC version. The graphical fidelity itself is huge. Then we talk about controls, it’s really bad in OG versions, Checkpoints non existent, No navigation means I have to wonder 50 minutes in the forest to figure out where I need to go. Load times are long. Did I mention the pop ins? Visuals are far better. Grass and foliage now looks somewhat modern, it looks nearly ancient on old version. The lighting is improved greatly, There is reflections on car. Textures on trees is a generational leap, also going the resolution is higher. Half the people making fun of DE never played the OG version.

Bit dramatic. Hundreds of games released this year completely fine and playable but as soon as a big company releases an incomplete game its "wow the gaming industry is going downhill"... I remember when GTA 4 on the PC was full of bugs and crashed constantly... And when skyrim on the PS3 was not optimised to the point where the bigger your save file got the worse it played. Also when New Vegas released full of bugs. I also remember people saying the exact same thing as you at the time...

Full remakes cost a lot of money. Much more money than the development studio can afford. Rockstar didn't work on these remasters. A much smaller developer did and they don't have the best reputation either.

Remember the GTA SA mobile and Xbox editions that were ported over and had a lot of bugs and glitches and were generally unplayable? Yeah, that was the same company who was behind it. It was rockstars decision. They let them make this game. It’s like they gave Grove Street Games a week to flesh out this entire thing and shipped it out in a box with holes in it.

Or if the game didn't run at a consistent FPS and casued you many unfair deaths? No game is perfect, and nobody with any working braincells expects perfection from a game, especially a remaster. That doesn't mean that mega sized game companies shouldn't provide a solid 6/10 game on average. We expect a functioning game that respects it's own history, and cares more than, "how much money could this make off nostalgia or cool effects in HD". Fallout 3 and 4 are great examples of a company not really giving a shit and doing what they want with no regard for the series history or fanbase, and providing a 2/10 and 1/10 respectively.

Working as a QA Tester, this shows how Rockstar was more interested with easy money grab than make a flawless experience. We eat some of these bugs on breakfast, it's really easy to find and it is really easy to fix, but probably the devs where forced to waive or got no time to fix it

Grovestreet ported their awful mobile ports into Unreal Engine and then allowed A.I. to remaster the whole thing. The developers and publisher are 100% to blame for this dumpster fire. Grovetsreet should be banned from making games ever again and Rockstar should be held legally liable in my opinion. There is no excuse for this and I cangaurantee you that not one single QA tester was even consulted on this project.

The character models and rain should’ve been 1 and 2, on a whole it needs a massive graphical overhaul. The part of the map near Catalina’s place where you do the robbery missions, the road that adjoins the small town to the main city has missing edges to the roads where you can see through the map.

A couple of things I haven't seen people mention much, if at all: 1) Vibration on the controller seems to be hit or miss. Some impacts register, some don't. And, for example, I remember on the PS2 if you rode over the train tracks on a bike in San Andreas, you get a lot of vibration. On the Definitive Edition, you feel nothing. It's just weird to me. 2) I remember in Vince City you had honking car alarms. In the Definitive Edition, this doesn't seem to be a thing. I haven't had one car alarm go off yet. Again, this is a small thing, but it's still a missing game mechanic.

My point was, translating games from the PS2 onto the new gen would take much more time than you think, just because they have money doesn't mean it's easier to do. I assume R* considered doing it themselves but chose to focus on GTA 6 probably. After all, gta 6 is going to make them more money in its first week than gta 5 has made in the past 5 years. "it's easy just time consuming" just shows you know absolutely nothing about game development. I fail to see where I defended them... I'm responding to you saying that it would be easy to make the trilogy with the gta 4 engine when it wouldn't be... regardless of budget.

There are more weird things that would make a good part 2. I noticed that if you are in a police car with the siren on and hold the horn button other police cars around you will play the same variation of the siren, like you are controlling them. Other thing that really bothers me A LOT is the amount of places with invisible objects that you can collide with. I noticed that quite a lot in the hills next to Las Colinas in San Andreas and it makes driving there nearly impossible. Finally, the biggest "screw you" were the special animations for fat and buff CJ that were simply not there.

things i would love to see: the ability to bail out of a vehicle in GTA3. the ability to swim for at least 10 seconds if you end up in water so you have a chance to get back to land in GTA3 and VC. 10 seconds shouldn't break the games since there's such a large distance between areas. the ability to remap certain controls. i hate having the E-break set to R1(PS5). i find myself always hitting the X button because that's what i'm used to and it does nothing while driving. checkpoints in the longer and more frustrating missions, especially with how often the game seem to crash while i play... i'm sure there was more that but those are the 4 that come to mind.

In addition to what this video points out,, These are some of the bugs and issues I have currently ran into while playing the definitive edition on ps5. Vice city : -San Andreas menu sounds in the pause menu -car health is extremely weak, any vehicle you're in as a player can take way less damage than npc cars before they catch fire -cars blow up within seconds once they are on fire -when flying in a helicopter, the blades spin in an unnaturally slow pace Gta San Andreas: -weird collision when bumping into cars, it's like your body is a metal object and bumping into a car seems as if something heavy and large hit the vehicle -bicycle tires sink into the ground when riding on alot of surfaces -camera shifting into a weird angle slowly when the player commits grand theft auto, it's extremely annoying -power lines running straight into walls and windows and roofs and some go literally nowhere just hanging in the air, not sure if that was in the original -cj swims awkwardly now, it's kindve difficult to control his swimming and I'm not far into the remaster but it seems like you can't swim underwater

Car A.I is that when the player is in a car the enemies get more accurate, the reason being that if you are on foot or on a bike/motorcycle they want the enemies to hit you less because you are a small target so their accuracy is set to a smaller percentage, on the other hand if you are in a car it is easy to hit a car so their accuracy goes up so they hit the car more, but if you are on a mission when you get out of the car the accuracy doesn't reset so you get Swiss cheeseed, that is the way it use to working making it critical that speed runners used motorcycle or maybe even bikes on specific missions where a lot of enemies had guns

As of 9/6/24 there is still no solid floor in some parts of the ocean of San Andreas so if you float down in a car or dive down you can just go right through the sea bed. I know that's not a huge deal, but it just goes to show how much of the game is still broken not to mention the many other bugs that were never fixed. I love the games and they are still fun this way, but not nearly as good as they should be.

For me, the one thing to put me off is the total lack an exclusion of accessibility features for players with disabilities. I would love to revisit these old classic games and enjoy them for myself. However, with me being visually impaired and needing key accessibility features such as help with navigation and aim assist aswell as menu narration, I feel that this is an example of what not to do in gaming terms of accessibility. However, good examples of accessibility are marvels guardians of the galaxy, the last of us part two, far cry 6, and there are many more great examples.

@@HandledToaster2 oh I know, they should’ve delayed this until they had all the bugs worked out and incorporated accessibility features that I mentioned above. I believe that accessibility features need to be required to be an all games in some form or another. I would also like to see some form of display on the box and I would like to see a display on boxes and store fronts related to accessibility features. Sadly I doubt we will ever get that.

@@blindmetalgamer You're right, but game companies are already making accessibility the norm, some of the greatest latest PS5 games have been perfect examples of accessibility. It's really just Rockstar not giving a shit about anything at all, this kind of practice is going away. I think the future of gaming is accessible.

@@HandledToaster2 very true, I’m still on PS4 lol. I even tried to reach out to rockstar and sent them a tweet and gave them resources who I can contact temperature accessibility. What are they will do this or not is beyond me. I might even reach out to the developers of this trilogy and voicemail concerns.

4:00 this is a semi-well documented bug that also existed in the original 2004 release. The game was meant to adjust enemies' accuracy based on whether the player and/or the enemy are in a vehicle or on foot. In the original release, if you enter a combat scenario while in a car, and then get out, the enemies' accuracy remains high as though you were still driving. In the Definitive Edition, it seems these accuracy adjustments can get triggered randomly aswell. A lot of the technical issues in the Trilogy DE can be explained by copy-pasted old source code that was never meant to be run in Unreal. 15-20 years ago we turned a blind eye to gaping holes in technical execution, because these games were groundbreaking at the time. These days, that level of quality is just not enough for the general populace, especially if there's further regressions caused by careless porting to a completely different engine.

When the cutscenes freeze on my game GTA San Andreas DE on Xbox One X, all I have to do is press "A" and it slips the cutscene and allows me to resume.
