It actually makes me feel good that I learned most of these things on my own through so much trial and error and practice. all the new kids out there just starting out watching this probably don't understand just how helpful this video is lol but I did learn a couple things here too thank you so much Whanowa you're a legend.

I agree that learning by doing and finding stuff out for yourself is a good way of working. I've been doing it like this since I was a kid. And no, I'm not a legend. I'm just a regular guy struggling with life like everybody else.

Even five years later this video is massively helpful. I've tried my hand at some various 'music videos', but I haven't tried any panning shots. This will really help me overcome some of the limitations I've run up against and had to work around in other ways.

"Rope" by Alfred Hitchcock is a great example of designing shots for cuts that give the impression of one long take. Thank you so much for your knowledge and time in making these tutorials. This is awesome stuff...

I don't do a lot of smooth blending if it involves more than point a to point b. For now, that's how I avoid some of its problems - they don't kick in when I do that. I might have to experiment with longer clips though. As it is, I do quite action packed videos with a lot of changing camera angles.
@whanowa4 жыл бұрын
It always depends what you're going for. Some people wanna make long handheld oners and smooth blend is inevitable for that.

I love using the smooth camera blend. Especially, for car chases and action scenes.
@whanowa7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it takes a while to understand all the nooks and crannies but it's worth it.
@ras.95247 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Like you said, you have to play with the camera a bit. I learned a lot from watching your videos , as well as Duggy's, Bloodlust180, and a few others to work on my machinimas. Only thing is that I have a PS4, so it's kind of limited. But I make do with what I got. It's very fun indeed.
@sirhoneybadger58757 жыл бұрын
I think the smooth camera is shit. You can't have the camera follow the player and then move in front of the player because it just doesn't move in front. It's too slow. So please explain to me why it's so "good".
@whanowa7 жыл бұрын
I think I gave plenty reason in the video why the smooth blend is good for your videos. A tool can only be as good as the person using it. There is a reason all big machinima creators use the smooth blend. As I said in the video it takes some practice to get the hang of it. If it's too slow you need to move the markers further left or move the camera further to compensate for the transitions between the markers. Admittedly it's nowhere near perfect but it's better than having a static camera or linear blend.
@truffleshuffle0096 жыл бұрын
I love this and thanks. I always wondered why my smooth blend always looked a bit off. We need a good comprehensive tutorial for scene director like this. That is something thats really hard to work with.

@truffleshuffle0096 жыл бұрын
Ya or longer there is a lot of stuff to do. There are a lot of stuff I learned myself but the harder things like setting up a scene where actors do things and go to certain points of foot and with a car just escape me. my actors always end up in the middle of nowhere even with waypoints. Their cars also end up trashed lol.

@@-crispychips-9187 You can activate subtitles if that helps and always pause to see the settings in editor. Watch in full screen mode! Everything is in there. You CAN use "follow target" but that isn't what smooth blend is about.
