@@arnavjoshi7047 GTA 5 and RDR2 have their own issues. Gta online public lobbies has an extremely low fps on last gen consoles, and cause a huge fps drop on PC. Very high options for gta 5 aren't optimized at all for PC. Stuttering is present in RDR2, and TAA is REALLY bad.

ps5 and xbox series x/s are more than powerful and can easily handle nve. if a ryzen 7 1700 and gtx 1060 6GB can handle nve, 9th gen consoles could blow the system mentioned out of water ( I had a ryzen 7 1700 cpu and gtx 1060 6gb gpu and i was satisfied with the results considering the visual improvements ).

A PC with the same specs of ps5 and expecially Xbox sx could run naturalvision evolved at 50+ (u have to count online) fps all time with some compromises, while at the same time being better than expander and enhanced, immagine what could have been done of rockstar would have worked with nve modders, making it more optimized and maybe adding ray tracing

The problem is people are comparing modern advanced graphics mods with an old ass game that is STILL currently running on an outdated graphics engine that was developed on ancient ps3 hardware. The game's graphics engine hasn't been fixed or updated since the game launched way back in 2013. So of course the mods are going to look much better and play much smoother than consoles. That is the fault of old limited console hardware.

The main reason that they had those new technical features is because of the technology that they were handed, the so called "faster loading times" and "seamless character-switching" phrases that they used during the advertisement of this game is mainly the hardwares job, and as you said, things such as better audio and Dolby vision are things most people don't notice because most of them don't even have a newer TV, what a statement, it's like saying you are obligated to have a newer TV to fully experience the real gta 5 next gen experience

I think the natural vision evolved mod bring gta v graphics on level of RDR2. But we should also consider the fact that R* is an MNC( a greedy one maybe ;) ). So, considering RDR2, we can say that if they really wanted to enhance the graphics, they could have done even better than the mod. But that would make them lose their profit opportunities. So I believe its just profit-mindedness and pure business strategy(one which i don't like tho) to not really do anything in terms of graphics improvement. chill!!

Well Crytek actually did take a modders' mindframe with the first Crysis and that game sold 5 million+ copies on PC alone and FORCED millions of people to upgrade their hardware. That game not only boomed the PC software market, but also boomed the PC hardware market. It's funny because while a bunch of devs are chasing after "wider" consumer markets, when you actually push the boundaries like Doom 3 did, like what Crysis did, and like what the GTA modders have done, the people will follow. Games are build with optimization as priority. So its obvious that the graphics won't match up with the mods cause mods don't prioritize performance. But I think that GTA should've given the options for the user by providing the base game and adding options for normal and realistic graphics packs in the launcher itself. That way mid to low end PC's can download the normal graphics pack and users who have high end PC's and are capable to run the game on the highest graphics can install the realistic graphics pack. The mobile version of PUBG has this feature.

The mod is great, and looks freakin' amazing, but I feel like another reason Devs decided not to update graphics and models to a much higher quality is to keep the game looking, well, like it always has. No, they should not hire modders just because modders can retexture things using 4K textures and tweak some stuff -_- Rockstar devs can actually BUILD all of that. Modders can't. It's like comparing an engineer to a painter. The engineer can make a great building. The painter can make it look even better, but at the end of the day the painter can NOT make a building and if it wasn't for the engineer he would be painting fences instead. Rockstar did a way better job with graphics in RDR2 on PC. Sure modders can retexture things, use filters, tweak saturation, making things look better, but they CAN'T create an animation of a gator biting a cowboy down to the ground, having us kick the gator, get up, shoot it in slow mo and then mount on a horse that is realistically shaking with fear in a foggy day at the swamp. Modding and tweaking without caring for optimization is not hard. Specially not graphical mods. Only a handful of mods are hard to make and actually need some programming skill (LSPDFR, FIVEM extension). But nothing that exceeds the talent of programmers that work for Rockstar. After all, they made the diamond. Others may polish it, make it look sharper, but they certainly can not make another diamond. Otherwise they would assemble and create their own company, like some other modders did already. But never reached the toe of the greatness of a company that has HUNDREDS OF PROGRAMMERS instead of retexture and filter users, file and objects importers, that can only mod because the product is already there for them, but can not make it by themselves.

Solution: Target 1440p (Fidelity) to Pseudo-2K (Performance) resolution, capped at 30 - 40 fps. Down-res the motion blur by at least 30% of the samples. If that's to grand, maybe try a somewhat graphically slimmed down version of a similar native-though-similar re-shade preset.

The thing is, comfort > visual. Let's be honest, if gta had these graphics, this game would not be enjoyable because of lower FPS: More distracting stuff on the map (big ass water puddles) and it would look as generic Unity/UE game without any unique graphics that would stick to our memory.

Notes that the NVE's Volumetric Clouds during a certain missions like Minor Turbulence, Bury The Hatchet and the Flight School, if you fly through the clouds will tank your game to 10FPS, making the missions unplayable

It's crazy to me that they didn't rework any models or textures in E&E. They could have easily used some of the assets they reworked for the next GTA game, saves on some DEV time. Absolutely baffling released that could have been achieved with a small update. The ray tracing is just so underwhelming on PS5 since its only shadows, nothing else. Would have made such a bigger impact if they went with RT reflections, their global illumination and shadows are already good.

I'm working in game studio with look depth team, so basically this is my job. In my experience you need to understand the current hardware capability to run your look depth. And also marketing team will supervise your job to meet their standards. So you have two layer of approval for the looks of the game while the mooders just thinking about looks.

Honestly I would take the foliage, textures, reflections and lighting during the night from the Evolved mod and have them with the vanilla games colour grading and fog. Shame that’s not what we got, 2014 R* would’ve done it but 2022 R* either made “Expanded & Enhanced” in a few days or outsourced it to another studio, like they did with The Trilogy.

Well. Compare other games to this. Horizon Forbidden West For example. Speaking of that and people loving the Facial Expressions. There's some really nice Facial Expressions in GTA 5. At least in Cutscenes. I'm impressed by that. Dunno why.
