I genuinely feel like the reason Lamar does most of the stuff he does is because he wants to be like Franklin but at the same time wants to stay true to his gang. Especially since at the end of this heist and afterwards, Lamar starts silently asking for cash and "a gold bar". It makes me think that Lamar did know but to avoid being shamed he went ahead and said the things he said in his own way.

@@hotr400 The other big reason is that they both heavily value loyalty. Lamar's "You're supposed to!" quip about saving his life could've easily been a line from Trevor. Lamar might be a dumbass, but he feels as if friends are supposed to be there to back you up even in the most retarded of scenarios. Meanwhile Franklin is holding his savior attitude right over his head like he didn't need to save his best friend from being executed in a sawmill like a goon. That is outright offensive to people like Lamar and Trevor. And honestly Lamar makes some great points. Franklin to this point hasn't done SHIT for Lamar besides tag along on a few missions while complaining the entire time. He never contacts him if you don't chose to hang out with him, never tells him about Weston stiffing them, never does anything for him but asks for everything in return. Loyalty is a two way street, and Franklin only realizes that if he choses option C. Which is why that's the only ending where Lamar gets the happiest ending he can have at this point.

This mission actually quite deep. Frank keeps berating LD about doing those stupid "hood shit" but it's the only way Lamar can live his life. He not cut for the "organized white collar crime" as how he put it, nor does he have a "mentor" like Michael to string him along and push him forward. He's abit similar to Sweet in a way, not as stupid but still. He's actually somewhat jealous of Frank success. Dude is a hard worker but he's still starving, this was prominent when he's very happy Devin got him some work. He wants big paying jobs, and willing to work and take the big risks, but he's painfully aware that he's not as talented as Frank so he takes all opportunity. Frank keeps saying that he's willing to give him a holler when he got some gigs, but he never did, at least not onscreen. The hostility stems from him being angry at himself for not being good enough to play on the big league by himself.

Franklin would have never brought Lamar onto something big as the Union Depository. Lamar was a huge liability and was a simple street gangster, he had no experience pulling off something that big. Franklin was on the lowest risk jobs during the Vangelico Heist since he was the most inexperienced. There wasn't much in either direction for the Union Deposititory that Lamar could have handled appropriately. He couldn't be discrete on a phone call if you recall at the beginning of the game

I know everyone loves Lamar but this mission really made me dislike him. I understand it’s his character with development and whatnot but I found him irritating and highly ungrateful. Not only being forced to save him by Tanisha the hypocrite, not only getting a bs thank you, but also him still thinking Franklin only cares about himself as shown in the final mission where he mentions that Franklin is “finally doing something for his homies” Fun mission but I personally would’ve let him go for making dumbass decisions and being a jerk to Franklin the whole game
