One thing that really shows Michael's character in the scene is, despite being pissed of at Jimmy, when Trevor shows up, he inches in front of him and shoves Jimmy behind. It shows that no matter what, he was very attached to his family and was ready to protect them at any cost, even if it meant betraying his best friend.

He saw that Michael has lost his edge, a depressed alcoholic, his son is a fat loser who smokes dope, jacks off and plays video games all day, his wife is cheating on him and his daughter is out there trying to find her way into the entertainment industry. His life was truly sad at that point lol. Trevor and Franklin were like a blessing in disguise.

I don’t think Trevor had an intention to kill Michael, at least that wasn’t the only goal. He probably wanted answers before deciding what’s next. Remember at this point he still bought the lie that Brad is in prison. We got the impression that Trevor will kill Michael because we were shown how violent and unhinged he is in his introduction, and via Michael’s own paranoia. But Michael valued loyalty much less than Trevor, Trevor’s loyalty is such that he forgoes many opportunities to kill Michael because that would hurt Michael’s family. He has very close relationship to Jimmy and Tracey, and letting Michael live is the price he was willing to pay for those connections.

Yep, I had that crazy loyal friend a long time ago. He would make insane pranks like drawing permanent mustache in my face or picture a dildo beside my face while I sleep. The idiot is now in jail for having sex with a minor even though the girl likes him. She was 15 and he was 18 at that time. Dude couldn't wait for 3 year for that pooh.
