Instead of taking out the axel, I removed the 3 bolts at the bottom of the control arm and pushed down on the control arm and lifted the ball joint bolts up off the control arm. That way I didn’t have to take out the axel.

Generally a rule of thumb I go for when dialing in preload on the springs, is about a half inch spring compression in the front. Different manufacturers may be different or even come with a preset preload and not recommended to change it. As far as the rear, put the wheel on with a couple bolts....adjust the collars on the spring perch, then jack up the suspension so it's sitting on the suspension and not on the lift as much as you safely can and see where it's at. Trial and error and adjustment....continue to adjust the rear spring perch until you get the height where you want, then roll in the shock in to match the height. The weight of the car is the preload.

On my mk6 gti I found out after raising the rear on and off jack stands 4 or 5 times if I shortened the rear spring perch by 2cm the ride height lowered by 3cm . This is because the control arm on which the spring assembly sits is anchored towards the centre of the car . ie if you want to lower or raise the rear by 5cm for example only make about a 3cm adjustment on the spring perch up or down . I wish I realised this sooner as it would have saved a lot of work .

Your explanation of adjusting ride height based on measuring the shocks/springs is 100% not how that works at all btw. A factory spring could be 20 inches tall compared to an aftermarket spring being let’s say 15 inches can produce the same ride height. It’s all about how the spring is designed and what the spring rate is. Following the directions from the manufacturer is always the best way to do things. Also the two upper lock rings you were talking about adjust the “preload” of the springs. You’re not changing the spring rate. It’s just putting tension on the spring so that it can’t unseat itself if you’re driving the car hard and the shock unloads. Like going over a bump fast. In the split second you’re coming down from the bump and your suspension unloads the spring can slip out of its position from under the top hat and bind up when the suspension settles back down.

12 point Allen head sockets or "triple squares" are a must have for most if not all euro cars. Especially the German ones, and ESPECIALLY anything from VW Group. Which at this point is basically everything. Cause VW owns it all almost.

Not sure why u went with K-sport besides getting a discount, there a universal coilover suspension when they don't make em for your car. Would went with bilstein, kw, bc or tein these are cheap compared to the parts u put on the car.

The core of your rear shock absorber is wrong,About 1 week after the new coilover is installed, the rear body will be lowered by about 0.5-1 inches

You can use a 2x4 with a hole to put bolt through and use a jack to lift strut out of the slot and to place new strut in. . Pretty easy and quick

Love your chilled videos! I have a question regarding the new R. If I install coil overs will that mess up the R’s Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) variable suspension settings? Provides a choice of Normal, Comfort or Sport modes. Using the digital slider via the infotainments system. I’ve seen the DCC has 15 settings

Just installed lower springs on my R. Went right into it without knowing u need a 12 point spline bit socket I just used 6 point torx, definitely not recommended but is possible with minor damage to bolts.
