This little car saved Peugeot from bankruptcy. The T16 is really a success story that's never been told properly because group B ended in tragedy and the Pug had nothing to do with any of the major accidents that happened. The little Evo2 version of this car could run 540-560hp on 3.0 bar of boost from a small 1.8 engine that was probably the most reliable group B car of the time. That's quite astonishing and the French did build the best rally car ever. Not Germany with the Audi.

The T16 was, simply, the greatest of all the Gp Bs. True, it didn't have the 'flashiness' of the S1 or S4 - it just quietly went about its business, which was winning rallies. My first view of the T16 was 'how boring'. How quickly that view changed. The car is simply the first expression of Jean Todt's genius. Wonderful car.

The T16 was almost unrestricted and is still today the fastest seasonwinning rally car. PSA has won more with the Citroens than anything else ever in rally history, but these were the back2back winners when the absolutely insane was expected and needed to win a championship.

I've got to admit, I thought the 1986 Evo2's looked as if they were on steroids and they meant business. When you see it set up for a tarmac stage on those wheels and the lowered suspension it's the ultimate rally car for me.

It was known that Rohrl and Blomquist didn't like the sport Quattro because it was too twitchy. The older Audi A2 would never have beaten the T16 anyway and remember that peugeot won the championship in the cars first full year and that was quite an achievement.. The 20v Audi engine became good anyway once they sorted it and still sounds the best of any rally car. In 1986 the S1e2 should have been a contender and Audi only decided to run it partially and then pulled out for good after Portugal.

@johnmcluskey John I could not agree with you more .I reckon that the 206 T16 together with the Lancia Delta S4 were the gratest rally cars in history,so much that the Pug conquered the (proper) Dakar with the same configuration ,albeit a higher ground clearance.

Why did you sell it? Btw, was offered one 4 months ago but didnt have the cash for then, is there, as a former owner, any negative sides to owning one, not counting fuel eff or noise? Does it fall apart easy or so? Did you mod it or keep it stock? (tia)

FIRST, what a ( legend) true gentleman,This man would make today's PRO WRC driver's look like amateurs if you pit them together,standard GROUP B T16 v modern WRC and let them keep ALL the new extras they have in today's cars( TECHNOLOGY ),driver's today don't need the concentration levels this man needed during the day's of true rallying too many extras in WRC cars today, this takes the fun and ENTERTAINMENT out of rallying, no 450-550-750+BHP monsters anymore, this generation of driver's are rapped up in cotton wool, take away today's driver's technology they have at their disposal then this might bring a bit of fun,entertainment back and you'd certainly see a different look on their face's like "" WHAT THE F*CK "" then their next word's would be "" I'M NOT DRIVING THAT THING "". (Personally) I think a modern WRC cars without all their advanced technology is still not even half as crazy as a GROUP B Car, AND spectators HMM,today's driver's don't need to worry about them either as spectators are now nowhere near today's WRC cars,back in the days of true rallying you could touch a 550+BHP GROUP B car if you had the ball's the size of the driver's like the gent above, that's why today's driver's can't grow (LARGE) testicals because the road or track ahead are virtually clear ( again ) spectators are out of the equation, RIP GROUP B and all who entertained us in the real days of rallying and all the fearless and some crazy spectators who tragically died ,"OH! MALCOLM you didn't win the BIG ONE like ARI as your testicals wasn't big enough, LOL. Have a nice day, goodbye

La 405 étais mei dsl. Elle a remporté pikes pike alors que la 205 n'y est jamais arrivé. De plus peugeot avais perçé un trou dans la bride du turbo et même avec ça n'on pas battue Audi et ce sont fait disqualifié
