The first shot I ever played on a full size table was almost identical to the first pot. I was about 11 and people in the club thought I was some kind of future pro. Skip to now and my record break is 9.

That Pink by Peter Ebdon wins it by far. A semifinal, he is behind, he misses he is out, he then pots it and wins 2 other frames and then beats great Stephen Hendry to winn the championship. Considering all these factors in my opinion it is one of the greatest pressure pots of snooker history, with the best possible end result.

Excellent video. Interesting that the 2 stand out shots for me were both by Peter Ebdon who like Cliff Thorburn was a bit of a grinder. The really difficult pink in the semi-final of the World Championship - it had to go in to stay in the match, he knocked it in and got position on the yellow, won the next 3 frames to win the match, then beat Hendry in the final. Also amazing was the ridiculously difficult pink ball he knocked in against Higgins, which was my second fav. Peter Ebdon was not by any means the best player, but given the context of the matches those 2 shots he made are for me the 2 greatest shots in the history of televised snooker.

I can only watch in awe. Let's not forget the **thousands** of hours of hard work, dedication and practise that all of doyens have invested in their sporting skill. Such single-minded effort, leading to dizzying heights of ability is humbling for us mere mortals. Also spare a thought for the hundreds of thousands of young men who put in the same amount of effort yet lacked the talent to succeed at the "A" grade level. I'm told that nobody worked harder than Steve Davis and Ray Reardon. They, apparently slaved away practising into the early hours of the morning ever days for many years. Their extreme efforts demonstrates how hard work develops character. Alex Higgins was on another planet as far as talent is concerned. (The most talented player since Walter Libdrum) but, by his own admission, he never put in the long hours that most other top players did. Think how successful Higgins would have been, had he put in the same amout of practise as Steve Davis. Ronnie O'Sullivan? - almost as talented as Alex Higgins but O'Sullivan put in the practise hours too. What a combination.

They are all brave shots.I have seen similar shots, that did not work out.In the video there was one shot where the player,if I am correct used the spider extension over the pack of red balls to hit the black ball.It was a risky shot, but the black ball went into the pocket. That was definitely a do or die shot. That is one of the best shots I have ever seen. The greatest shot was when Jimmy White was in a snooker. He hit the white ball, which was in front of another ball. Both balls were on the side cushion.Jimmy hit the ball forward and it hit the cushion, and came back down the table, and hit the ball he was snookered on.He could not strike the white ball as usual. He must of put spin, side or whatever on the white ball.To hit the ball he was snookered on,that was the greatest and bravest shot ever.

Do you mean pool? Because it would be equally tricky in English billiards. If you do mean pool, the main differences are that the table is far, far bigger, the pockets are far, far tighter and, in particular, making shots along the rail (or "potting along the cushion", as we say) requires way more precision. If you do mean English billiards I'm fully baffled.
