It's kind of mid. Except for the price. For something coming from decathlon this should be priced as a Felt IA, Speedmax CF8, or an Quintana Roo X-PR. It's sad that the rival version doesn't have the tool compartment! I am confused about that choice. You pay extra for bento boxes and tri bars that you remove and replace if you want it for UCI legal racing, and you're missing out on the integration if you want it for triathlons.. Maybe their supply chain isn't up to the task to supply all the TRI bikes with integrated storage? Also with swiss side wheels you'd expect the AERO 111 front tire to be mounted standard. But okay I can see triathletes who don't want to spend a lot of time comparing bikes, or want a store nearby to return the bike to in case of issues, buying this. But there are bikes with a more attractive price. Anyway it looks fast and whoever buys it is going to be happy and proud to ride it! But if it was my choice I'd spend some money on a bikefit and buy a cheaper bike to set up accordingly.

165mm cranks, one-bi and a mechanical Gripshift option could make for a much lighter and cheaper variant... and that would be the one I would go for! (I found mechanical GripShift with 105 from the 90ies to be as good as my Ultegra DI2 from the last decade...)

Yeah just recently ordered my first Tribike which is an Argon 18 E117 with Shimano 105 Di2 and I did add some Vision SC60 wheels for good measure. Came in with pre order discount at 6138€ which to me is a heck of a lot of money and yet it has an "entry level" group set and the "training wheels" as Vision calls the SC range... Not sure what the manufacturers think people have in disposable income these days tbh ^^'

I'd be interested in how the hybrid version compares to the cheapest (new) Speedmax by Canyon since that is actually cheaper.
@robertsamuel199416 күн бұрын
why not compare it to the CF SLX, which is closer in terms of specs? both with ultegra di2 and crank based power meters, similar spec wheels, the vRysel is about 1000 cheaper while weighing 600gr less. You can't compare it to the CF8, which is a bike for which Canyon cut corners to make it cheaper, while the vRysel targets to rival the best bikes.
@MarvinNeumannOfficial16 күн бұрын
@ true though! :)
@Anihalas16 күн бұрын
@@robertsamuel1994 are you aware the hybrid version lacks the integrated tool compartiment? That would'nt make a comparison al that crazy, 105 vs Rival, 9,54kg vs 9,60kg. (Swiss vs Swiss they are partners, not competitors.) €5.099 vs € 6.249,99. Leaves room to do a bikefit and some upgrades or a disc wheel for the canyon!
@robertsamuel199416 күн бұрын
@@Anihalas you mean the one with way less adjustability in the quite standard cockpit, without powermeter and with a totally different frame than the CFR? The XCR has been optimized to be faster than the CFR. We don't know if the claims are true, we can never know, but it's uncalled for to compare it to a lesser spec bike.
@Anihalas16 күн бұрын
@@robertsamuel1994 OP asked about the two lower specced bikes. I think the comparison between those two isn't that crazy. I agree the cockpit is a weakpoint on that canyon, but after a discwheel upgrade everybody goes for Fasttt aerobars wattshop or something else than what these bikes are being sold with anyways. I think you have made up your mind which one is the better choice. I'd might choose a lower spec bike if I'm just as comfortable on it and I am aware I won't ever average more than 37kph. So yes I am also interested in a real world comparison between the XCR TRI RIVAL vs the speedmax CF7. Especially in ride quality, road feel, cornering, climbing and descending. It will be interesting to see the results!

I have the UCI version, got one of very few in late summer. But there has been a product recall in October because auf possible problems with the basebar. The bike is great, I really like it, but decathlons customer service is underwhelming so far... They promised to sort it out within 4-6 weeks, it has been two months now and the person responsible for the recall is ignoring calls for weeks now. Will be interesting to see if there will be similar issues with the tri versions, I think they will be trying to sell way more of those than the UCI version as the TT market is rather small compared to triathlon...

Just like the roadbike, this bike targets to rival the top segment bikes. On the website they claim to have tested the top 3 tri bikes (not naming which one) and were able to beat the fastest competitor by 2,8 Watts at 45 kph . So wecan't compare it to mid range tri bikes from other brands, which are specced with lesser components or come with worse adjustability, less optimization. Comparing it to the ultegra di2 specced Canyon CF SLX with crank based powermeters, the vRysel is cheaper and 600gr lighter. So in that top segment of tri bikes, it is cheap. Again, just like the roadbike, and it probably is pretty close to being the fastest as well... having said all that, I wish they come with a cheaper option :')

With a price tag of 7,7k€ in Germany I would not call it entry price level. I made the mistake of buying a Van Rysel trisuit last summer which was a flop. Too wide at the chest so I had a nice breaking parachute under my chest in the water... the next smaller size was too tight at the legs and impossible to wear for my rather normal shaped body. So for I TT-bike a would really be cautious and wait for more market reviews
