Some of your videos I watch several times and discover new things every time. I’m on my way to one swim session and then I use to watch one video for inspiration. It’s a nice wow when you suddenly feel it working and the timing is there. Enjoy your time in Nice Marie-Louise

I have only really been swimming front crawl since last November. Before this it was just a mess. I am still trying to perfect it. The technique has got me through one race but DNF'd the two after. Once because I was sick and the next because 2 foot waves and 30 KM winds made it too hard for me to continue. Maybe next year. All distance were Olympic distance.I will persist and keep at it. Thanks for the tips. I will give them a go.

Really nice video. I’m happy to say I right now recovering from IM Kalmar . The swim never been more difficult than this year. It was really choppy and so crowded. So it was difficult to swim your tempo with good technique all the time. I swim once after and it was so nice to swim with a lot of space and my own tempo. Now I will swim more pool swim before Kona , because it will be non wet suit. Your video’s always inspiring. // Marie-Louise

I am almost certain that you should be kick the leg that is on the same side, to help with rotating the hips before the arm pulls through.

This video is perfect timing. This time last year I could swim a 70.3 swim under 30mins and now after a year of poor technique am no where near this! My back is in so much pain, hips swaying and I can't extend and pull back one arm... I think it may be due to the timing and position of my head when I breath. I don't really want to spend hundreds on swim analysis tho as I know the fitness is there !!

Unless I missed it because it was so brief, the video failed to show the opposite leg, kicking at the beginning of the pole phase as suggested

#gtncoachescorner Hello! Older adult relearning swimming after bad/incomplete lessons from childhood. Already learning so much from your excellent videos. My question is: At what point do you just use nose clips? I’m trying all the tips for breathing during front crawl, but after the 2nd or 3rd breath I feel like I’m struggling to get a breath instead of (especially in my nose) water. I’m trying to slow down and focus on remembering I have time to clear water with the last of my previous breath, but I think I’m still struggling to let bad habits go and nerves are getting in the way. Breathing drills are fine. Breathing for breaststroke is easy, it’s that head turning and finding a pocket of air without water getting in the way from somewhere and feeling like it wasn’t enough air to keep going for longer distance. Thanks so much!

Update: aha! I watched a few more of your tip videos and realized I was stretching too far ahead, too soon when putting my hand back into the water to start the new catch and pull stroke. Doing it the way you described and then stretching to grab and draw enabled me to get a better chance at a good clearing and breath. Now I just need to stop panic gulping air and trust the process. I think, although I’m waiting after eating a reasonably light enough breakfast, I might still need to wait a little bit longer or swim before breakfast. Still work to do, but your videos are all amazing at breaking things down. Love that you have several on the same topics, because sometimes a different one will have that slightly clearer angle or tip I missed before! ❤
