Fantastic!! Love that you sing through entirely, then explain, then do the split screen always consistent. Makes it easy to rewind to repeat technique segments, or just to hear your great rendition. Thanks again!!

Marvelous! This is one of my favourite songs, and you do it well, both singing and picking. Thanks.

killer picking! I like your more blues version!

Incase you are unaware of Fred's talent, there's nothing he can't play, flatpick, fingers, nothing matters. He is an incredible musician.

Great lesson, I've just ordered 4 books by this master of picking. I am sure that i will learn a lot with him but... damned... understanding American spoken will be a channenge for a French dude. Greetings from France

Wow... All the negative comments. You don't even have a clue. Who the hell wants to hear anyone but Cash play this song like Cash? If you can't take a song and make it your own you are not a musician. I'd rather listen to a MIDI file than some idiot play it exactly like the recording. Sokolow is awesome, and he's made a living doing this. Can you say the same about yourself?

To all the people pointing out that this isn't how Cash played it: The title of this DVD is "The Music of Johnny Cash for Fingerpicking Guitar". It's fingerpicking arrangements of Cash songs, it's not supposed to be exactly how Cash played. A DVD solely about how Cash played isn't necessary. Just look up the damn chords.

Very nice, are you adapting this to play both Johnny Cash and Luther Perkins' part?

my search is finally over.. most every other instructor irritates me in some regard or another, whether it be their character or voice or tedious details over simplisticies, that simply waste time even for beginners.. I mean if you don't know your chords or are to lazy to access your own images you aren't ready to be taught, I find myself fast forwarding most every other instructor I've found on you over tube the last few years but this Fred sokolow fella is more then bareable, I'llbe picking up what he's laying down from here on out.. Thanks Freddie..

Mark B. Just start like he shows playing the bass runs but take real slow till it bores the life out of you, its repetition all the way. If you really want play you'll get there. Labour of love is what any mastering takes!!
@mattkane53293 жыл бұрын
It's always gonna be that way. You'll just start collecting some chops along the way👍

nice lesson now to transfer it into a flatpicking style

"names from cities all over the country" think they are all along the Mississippi.....there's another verse mentions Natchez...he said it was cut as song was too long....I think it was jus considered too weak

The purpose of this post is not entertainment. It is a demonstration of the finger picking style that he's going to teach. If you're looking for entertainment, don't go on an instruction site.
